Yes, being wireless certainly reduces the risk of spinning the plug in the jack and having it pop out. Still possible, but a lot less likely since you (and the vocalist) won't be stepping on the cable.

My Mogami gold (with Amphenol plugs), ProCo, and Whirlwind, and D'Addario cables all have this issue.
They work fine until they spin in the jack, then it's game over.

I did find one cable with a "90 degree" plug in my collection that did NOT have the issue at all - a George L's cable, on which the wire actually comes off at more like a 45 degree angle instead of a 90 degree angle. (See photo with NG2.) I feel that George L's cables are ridiculously overpriced for what they are (just $0.30 per foot coaxial cable, possibly Belden 551945 - I am guessing and they would not confirm or deny) - plus some decent enough connectors on the ends.) Their profit margin on them has to be massive. They work well because they have such low capacitance, so they don't suck out a lot of high frequencies, not that we care so much on bass anyway. Veering back onto the topic at hand...

Maybe the Neutrik mentioned above has a short enough body to not hit the bass when it spins around.
Hopefully someone who has those can let us know. If so, this could be a business opportunity for somebody to make some nice right-angle cables for NG owners.

Yes, some manufacturers 90s will fit if rotated in one direction. I only tested about 6 different cables. But for me, and the way I play and move, I would never try that and I do suggest to anyone to use the straight cables. But heck, I used to be bad about switching basses quickly and forgetting to run my cable through the strap and then BAM I stepped on the cable and pulled the cord out - embarrassing. I am mostly over that now.

In case you also have occasion to use a gig bag, a great option is an SKB 76-key keyboard flight case. You can keep the bass in the gig bag and put it into that case. That is what I used to fly internationally with my basses in the past, and it worked out great. Once I got to my destination, I could just switch to the gig bag for convenience.

I would imagine a lot of the more universal bass cases would fit it (I was just strolling through Sweetwater and saw quite a few that seemed very universal for most everything that is not radically shaped). I also saw this. You could get a gig bag, then put it in this for the trailer:

I just basically would bring a right angle one one end/stright plug on the other and switch the cable around if I switched from my Spector to NG2 or vice versa. The Dbird for sure needs a straight plug as it is like a stratocaster style jack on the side.

It'll be worth the wait. My Dbird has actually exceeded my expectations, and that is really saying something. I got to check out the Standards at NAMM and they looked excellent.

Check these cases. Archspire just flew around the world using these and have not heard a complaint about them.

I received a custom bass from the UK with a hard shell case. It is late and my memory will not cough up the name, but for kicks I tried an NG in it and thought it fit really well. I will look at the brand tomorrow. probably made in England. I do like it. I do not sell these cases.

Stainless: Initially bright, lots of fundamental and harmonics, settles in after a while. typical stainless string experience.

Nickel: More fundamental note, less harmonics. Not as bright. typical nickel string experience.

I like the stainless on the longscale Dingwalls. Makes them very flexible in the kinds of sounds you can get. Accentuates the clarity and fullness. I like the nickel on the Super J and Super P and fretless Dingwalls. Gives you more of a jass 'thump' experience.

Just wanted to ask any of you guys with an Ng3, what are the standard modes for the pick-up selector:
Are they the same as this?: the Dbird setup (which i prefer)?:

I played an NG2 in the store and i like just the front pickup. so on a 3x version, of course, I want to be able to use just the middle pickup by itself. You guessed it: I don't like the sound of bridge pickups.
A search through Talkbass didn't clear things up.
