Dingwall Owners Club

I just put this together. Hope to use it in band rehearsal this weekend. The vocalist is for adding harmonies to my voice since there are only two of us singing.

As I said, I just put it together. I'll tweak the graphic while I rehearse. The band'll probably complain but hey, what can you do? :smug:
I play in a three piece band covering classic and alternative rock, Deep Purple to Tears for Fears to Alice in Chains. I need quite a variety of tones. :thumbsup:

Wow, I was just going to start a thread asking about vocal harmonizers/pitch correctors that would tract a bass instead of a guitar. This one does ok tracking bass?

Anyone else playing bass and doing vocals who uses one of these? If so which one?

Actually Michael I don't use my bass, I run a tap from my guitarist over to my pedal. I make sure it's split off before any effects.

OK, After I posted I was thinking that. Can you do me a favor and try the bass as tracking and see what happens? I am not optimistic as to the results. I NEED one that will track bass. Dang guitarist many times screws up my vocals and I wouldn't want his guitar as the tracking as he jumps back and forth from playing lead. Guitar guy, "I don't listen to the bass, I listen to the drummer." Drummer, "I don't listen to the bass, I count." Arrggg, And these are MY songs.

I can give it a shot, but I've tried a few of these and they all say that chords are needed in order to analyze and determine the proper harmonies, e.g. the third. If the bass is riding on the root, it won't know whether to give a minor or major third. if you start playing a busy bass line, it may not be appropriate for the song. I am thinking though that maybe keyboards would work also, but I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks. Yes, that corresponds to everything I have read, but I have never owned one and was hoping. Most of my runs are in-between and the chorus, where I need harmony, is usually really simple. Simple answer, hire a "rhythm" guitarist.

Another option is most of these devices can override the "Intelligent Harmonies" and just program in the key of the song and that should work also. I've just always used the guitar feed as it's easier.

You might look at the pitchfork pedal from electro harmonix. It tracks bass pretty well. At least down to A. Octave up or down or both, plus other intervals.

I like mine as an octave down, and it does some other cool stuff. The octave up is why I bought it. I wanted to use that with distortion to put more lead stuff and chordal stuff with the looper.

Just picked up a Alpha Omega Ultra, can’t wait to give it a try.

I've decided to forego buying some cheapo bass to tide me over while I'm travelling for my research. Instead, I'm going to hunt down a cheap Combustion. The cheaper the better, so probably an older model.

EDIT: Now I’m thinking I can justify spending a little more to get a 4 string, because I can also justify keeping it to have a 4, a 5, and a 6.

Kalium Strings & D’Addario makes extra long scale sets & even there normal long scale sets will work on a 4 String Dingwall NG- 2 for sure. & I think a 5 String as well but not 100% on that.

Also I think Rotosound makes extra long scale sets as well

Just buggin ya but I love both options you listed. I run the Payosn SS regularly but the dingwalls are fantastic as well and payson ships out to your door in like a week.

This is good. I have a few sets of Dingwall SS for fivers. Just gauging the market. ~$35 a set is not cheap. Nice to find the best price if I can.
