In 90% of live situations I'm playing with neck/middle in series. I have a lil' bit of boost on the bass EQ and I've usually rolled back the low-mid just a little. Then the high mid is rolled back quite a bit.

On some outdoor stages, I end up running neck/bridge parallel, but that's really picky depending on the gig...It goes a bit lower and has either a flatter or somewhat of a scoop to the mids. I usually try both during sound check and see which (series or parallel) is working better in the space.

Studio recording is literally all with neck/bridge in parallel.

If people aren't cleaning or reusing strings and you're changing that often, I'll certainly take donations of 'old' strings. ;)

Depending on gig frequency I'm rotating through sets ever 3-4 weeks (less in the summer) and a couple sets last me a good 4-6 months until they lose all tensile strength and the intonation goes wonky from wear and fret dents.

Denatured alcohol soak for at least a few hours does the trick. Don't use rubbing alcohol or anything that has an appreciable water content.

That's cool, but I don't have the will or energy to go that far. I use a standard grocery store round tupperware type plastic container that's big enough for me to coil the strings up inside and make sure they're fully covered. I use a couple good twist ties or scraps of wire to make sure they don't all sprang out when you coil them in the container.

I have a few containers and each lid is marked ("Z", "VP", "NG", "C"). I use the same alcohol across about a year until it gets visibly murky then I use new stuff. If it evaporates down, I just top it off enough to cover the strings all the way. Upon soaking, remove and uncoil, wipe down with a paper towel or cloth and let sit a few minutes for any residue to evaporate out.

I've been doing this for 15 or so years, and it really works unless you're rusting strings with your sweat. Don't ever 'boil' strings. They'll corrode from the inside.

My PVC tube just has a cement-on cap on each end, but only one is cemented; the other is friction-fit.
I have a spring broom-holder clip in the corner of my music room to keep it upright.
My strings are going on 18 months of use, easily hold their tuning for a week, and still sound bright.
All of the components (including the denatured alcohol) are available at any hardware store

Anyone looking to upgrade to a Canadian model? I just put my 2015 custom exotic up for sale here on TB. Not abandoning multiscale (I still have my NG2 and an NG3 6 string coming someday). I just ran into some unexpected expenses. Otherwise I'd probably be buried with this bass. More photos (and price) in the classifieds.

Edit: and don’t forget to call the contractors to cancel the job. :D You don’t want them messing up your new bass.

Nah, isn't the appropriate question actually "Why would I do a kitchen remodel when this bass is available?" Methinks you need to get your priorities straight! :)
