Very interesting and cool to hear that. By the way, I know you've probably said this before, but what is your core pickup setting on the NG3?
In 90% of live situations I'm playing with neck/middle in series. I have a lil' bit of boost on the bass EQ and I've usually rolled back the low-mid just a little. Then the high mid is rolled back quite a bit.
On some outdoor stages, I end up running neck/bridge parallel, but that's really picky depending on the gig...It goes a bit lower and has either a flatter or somewhat of a scoop to the mids. I usually try both during sound check and see which (series or parallel) is working better in the space.
Studio recording is literally all with neck/bridge in parallel.
I hope to work a few more years, God willing, but I think I already have my basses covered for retirement. The only possible change I see in my 'arsenal' would be the right pre-owned 4-string Afterburner...
