I am still processing the awesomeness of this bass. I wish I could just take a week off of work so I can work with this baby. I'll need to make a few setup adjustments because I'm a rather aggressive player, but I can also see how this bass is going to have an impact on my playing style anyway. Need to get a set of SS strings on her, and then find my favorite tones. Between the pickup selector combined with the s/p switches there are sooooo many sounds.

This shows well the "dual density" concept...

The use of high density Swamp Ash on the bass side increases sustain, clarity and punch of the B and E strings. Low density Swamp Ash on the treble side keeps the G and D strings nice and warm sounding.

The dual density concept used in the Lee Sklar and Prima Artist series was such a success it led us to trying it in a slightly different way on the Z-series bodies.

Using our dual density concept we separate the dense, heavy blanks from the lightweight ones. The heavier blanks get used for bass sides only and light ones get used for the trebles. Not only does this provide the tonal benefits of the dual density system, but also all of our swamp ash basses are very consistent in weight and tone.

It's amazing the attention to detail of these Dingwall basses.

Also brand new like the blue one, this one has a spalted maple x-top, ebony contrast layer, green Luminlay side dots, Darkglass Tone Capsule, FDV pickups with series/parallel switches, maple on maple with 12th fret "D", and of course a matching headstock. No need to state the obvious: it feels, plays and sounds like a Dingwall Z3, which is to say that it is superb in every aspect.
