Just make sure you have the truss rod set exactly the way you want it before you mess with the saddles. Also, I suggest keeping close track of how many turns you moved the saddle screws so that you can move them back in case you want to restore them to factory position. Also, make sure you move both saddle screws the exact same number of turns for a given string to keep them even.I have another question for the knowledge base...
In the picture below, it's obvious what adjusting 1,2, & 5 do, but do I have to loosen 3 & 4 before adjusting 1, 2, & 5?

I just want to make sure here and not just assume I know what I'm doing.
Thank you!
Thanks John. I adjusted the truss rod yesterday. I only needed a little more relief. But my questions was, do I have to loosen 3 & 4 before I do anything with 1, 2, & 5?Just make sure you have the truss rod set exactly the way you want it before you mess with the saddles. My GUESS is that 1 and 2 are independent, and that 3 and 4 must be loosened in order to adjust 5. But that is only a guess, and I would wait for an answer from someone who has done this before. I have never touched any of those screws on any of the Z3s I've had. Thanks John. I adjusted the truss rod yesterday. I only needed a little more relief. I am hoping for an answer from someone here with full knowledge of how the bridge on the Z model works. I also sent an email to [email protected] asking if Sheldon had a video out on the workings of the Z model bridge. My GUESS is that 1 and 2 are independent, and that 3 and 4 must be loosened in order to adjust 5. Perhaps an enhancement suggestion for Dingwall would be to include the instructions for truss rod and saddles in the documentation along with the electronics diagram. Now that I say that, perhaps they are available somewhere on the website.
I got an answer from Sheldon on Facebook. Thank you @Sheldon D.I have another question for the knowledge base...

Sheldon's a really nice guy, met him (briefly) @ NAMM 2017
Finish cracking around the holes could be from a sharp blow, but could also be from a sudden and extreme change in temperature or humidity or both, especially when the bass has been sitting outside in a cold vehicle and itself reached a cold temperature then is brought inside and suddenly opened up without waiting several hours for it to gradually come up to room temperature.
Wouldn’t expect that sort of finish effect on a non nitro finish with temperature.
Copy that Lee. thxJJ, I was going to chime in but I see you got the answer from the master himself. Another note as well on the independent string height screws (1 and 2)...as I'm sure you know, loosening the strings before adjusting those especially when raising them. Not as bad lowering but I loosen the string as well to for that to ensure not to strip out the Allen head. Just eyeball those two screws and keep them level.
Hah, I am experiencing some serious bureaucratic BS here: the new body for my bass is at a FedEx location about 15 minutes from my house. It has been cleared by customs and everything and is just waiting for next Wednesday, when it's supposed to be delivered. However, I am not at home then. So I thought: let's call FedEx, see if I can pick it up myself, it's very close, saves them a detour past my house and everybody's happy, right? Well, no. I'm not allowed to pick the body up before Wednesday "because delivery or pickup before the date of delivery would make it a Priority package, and it's an Economy package and that's cheaper so you'll have to wait, so sorry". So I was like: me saving you guys money, picking up that thing myself would make the shipment móre expensive? Whut? Weird. So I postponed the delivery to Thursday. Stinks.View attachment 3187385
So turned out there was some considerable finish damage at the knobs when I got this bass a few weeks ago and although I wasn't really bothered by it I still let Dingwall know (just so they knew things happen) and they offered me a new body! It's on its way to Amsterdam now, expected on Wednesday. Still have to find a luthier to set it up though.
