The Beat Buddy has more to it than I expected. I can put the SD card right in my iMac for updates and adding drum kits, songs, and other stuff. Plus, with the card in the Mac, I can use the Beat Buddy manager as a virtual machine. Very cool for practice. I just need another card to keep in my Mac. Wipe out or lose the card? No problem, download the backup content from Singular Sound's website.

The sobriety function is spot on. Drummer speeds up, slows down, unpredictable fills and misses coming back on the one. I know this guy, and his brethren in their multitudes.

For a computer challenged guy, this has gone pretty smoothly.

Next weekend's goal is figuring out the looper on the Pod 500X. The Beat Buddy might be able to midi with the Pod for locked up beats and looping. We shall see...

I was on the fence about getting one as I haven't had the space on my board for it, but I continually hear good things about them...

I got the fancier one with the external switch as a package on sale in an inventory clear out but even the basic model is sweet.

In all reality I think I’ve bought a few too many pedals recently as I get it and I’m like “ this is cool. Man it could do sooo many cool things”
And then never learn it. I just returned 2 pedals for this very reason.
Trying to just focus on the gear I have for now with very limited new purchases that require a learning curve. I’ll get to the beat buddy soon I hope.

I'm taking a punt here but I'm fairly sure a round trip flight is around the AUD$1,500-$2,000 mark.

There's definitely dealers here, and they're super accommodating - it's more the wait time (I'm being impatient). I have a Combustion coming in January, so I'm going to give that a run and see how I go. I've always had a soft spot for wenge necks though.

I haven't seen much in the way of Dingwalls coming out of Japan - where did you see these?

I'm taking a punt here but I'm fairly sure a round trip flight is around the AUD$1,500-$2,000 mark.

There's definitely dealers here, and they're super accommodating - it's more the wait time (I'm being impatient). I have a Combustion coming in January, so I'm going to give that a run and see how I go. I've always had a soft spot for wenge necks though.

Check eBay. They have I’d say 90%of Dingwall stock on eBay. It’s gross. The NGs are usually listed around $4000. CAD.

I understand shipping and such but...... really. I have often wondered if they’d take offers from people with closer proximity.

It cannot cost an extra 2G just to get them to Japan from here. I don’t buy it. There is a couple of used Z3 6strings on there now that are still over priced slightly but only cause they look like they have heavy wear. If they were used but in primo shape I’d say the prices actually aren’t that bad for JP pricing.

I have the original, large unit. I'd been eyeing them new at $300 plus $50 for the foot switch, and waiting for the xmas season discounts to show up. I mentioned as much in another thread and an offer showed up in my PM's. $240 shipped, which was in line with used prices.

Mine has the older latching footswitch, the new models are momentary, with large, mushroom cap switches. I reprogrammed the footswitch and it does what I want it to do.

The beat buddy manager was an unexpected bonus. You can build whole tracks, start to finish. There is also a users forum for sharing tips and data.

Plug the headphone connection into a nice stereo, and it's amazing how good the stereo sound is. Only other thing I would want, is maybe some reverb or chorus, but that could be handled in a DAW or with an effects loop.

It is totally designed for live play. I'm pretty excited about it.

Pretty sure those are just chancers listing stuff that's available much cheaper in local stores. If it sells they go buy it from the store and ship it out with a huge profit.

I have this EXACT problem myself right now, so am trying to purge the gear I'm not using and keep things simple.

It’s easy to get caught up in trying to “get caught up”


I only got into pedals perhaps 1 year ago. Maybe longer
But anyways. First it was a looper..... never really gets used.

Next it was a reverb. It’s awesome. Definitely awesome and gets played with all the time.

Then a few other effects after vids and stuff from the bad influences around here.

Last I just had the harmonist from boss and the C9 organ machine from EH and as cool as they were they weren’t magic on my rig at home and I just realized. Why am I wasting time trying to dial in these pedals and what for?....... I’ll cone back to some effects later after I get a handle on some recording and such. Perhaps find a band........ actually.... maybe that s the thing!

Maybe because I’m floating it’s a good time to be exploring these things........

Besides that, I've been practicing lately with just the bass plugged straight into the Beat Buddy which doubles as a headphone amp, so no pedals at all!
At some point, I will probably become one of those guys who posts a "Pedal Purge" in the classifieds.

Here's my mega ultra super deluxe edition pedalboard of chaos. Taking it to the shop today for possible fitting of a CIOKS Adam power supply. I use a daisychain setup with the Truetone One Spot. While the two Darkglass pedals operate without any noise or issues, running through the Polytune causes very weird "waves crashing against the shore" noises when the tuner is engaged. I've asked TC Electronic about it along with Truetone, and it seems I need isolated power. I'm going to try another AC adapter at the shop today just to be sure, but luckily the Adam fits my Nano board perfectly. I will also take the opportunity to arrange my AOU vertically for accessing the USB port with more ease.
