Dingwall addicts.

If you guys remember my conundrum from just before New Years, I've come to a conclusion of what I believe I’m going to do. I’m going to conform to one scale. Eventually maybe even only 6 strings but for now the 5 string Z is staying put and my SJ is either going in the closet or to a new home.
I’m still on the fence about parting with it but I’m of the mindset now that it’s a logical move to sell it or hibernate it and be done contemplating this and that.
Net $6000 CAD for me and the SJ can find its way to a new home.

This is the first public posting as I’m offering you guys first rights.

That really needs to stay in Canada.
Like at my house.

believe me....... Its kinda like trying to figure out which extremity to cut off.......I don't disagree with you. Im also actually really hoping it goes to the RIGHT home.... There is a fellow locally who I think would buy it in a heartbeat but im actually thinking to avoid his radar... I feel like it would be sending my children to work in a salt mine...

I played it Friday and WOW. I'd take it if it wasn't for the money, and likelihood of getting caught by Nate after succumbing to the temptation to play it out in public. I do believe it's never left the house. It's speced out beautifully and is the same or better than brand new (no infant mortality to worry about in any of the electronics or anything).

Nate sold me his NG3-5 in November and is a dream to deal with. He went completely out his way for me on more than one occasion even after he had the money in hand. I'd go into details, but I don't want to obligate him to the same specific selfless deeds on this sale.

After receiving some, well, let's just call them "puzzling", local trade offers (plus a few decent ones that just didn't work for me), I'm going to open up the sale of my AB-1/4 to Dingwall aficionados beyond my own neighbourhood. I'm putting this out here for a day or so before I put it on the TalkBass classifieds. I'd prefer cash, but will also consider trades. Reason for the sale is my complete infatuation with my NG-2 and this bass just doesn't deserve to be sidelined gig after gig. That'll get worse once my new Dingwall is ready, so it's time to let this one go.

This is a passive 2017 AB-1 model in mint condition, with a wenge neck and fretboard, tortoise shell pickguard and Luminlay side dots. Price is $3,200 Canadian, which currently works out to about $2,400 US. Ships with the original Dingwall gig bag and Allen key set. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any questions.

Thanks for the words Brett but you don’t have to lie to these nice folk. Tell them the truth about how I’m truly just an Arse..... or at least Vice Arse. Your killing my rep dawg! ;).

Seriously though it has left the house a handful of times. Most recently for a jazz/fusion project which I’m just going to stick to my six string in.

I’m really glad your diggin the NG. Thanks for helping me “downsize”
And don’t worry.... it wasn’t you or anybody you know I was referring to above. I’d be happy to know you were playing in out and might even get off my arse to come see ya in action.

Occasionally people ask for Dingwall string purchasing advice...and I always direct to buy right from Sheldon and the shop. I was down to only one unused set and knew it was time...I do buy a bunch at a time, usually between 5-8 sets. I just placed an order for 6 sets and it confirmed my suspicion...that buying through the shop and buying a handful of them is the best/cheapest way.

Six sets of 5-string-nickel-steel with exchange rate/fees and shipping included ended up being $29.43 per set. I can't think of anyone out there who's doing Dingwall strings for under 30 bucks, shipping included.

Unless I’m missing it you can’t get a low F# there unfortunately.

I'd love to see Dingwall's take on the Stingray. I know, I know - technically the NG2 kind of fills that spot, but still - a "Super MM" with a wenge neck, proprietary Dingwall pickups and Super series scale length would be a really cool instrument. Especially a 5-string with 19 mm spacing. ;)

There are a few different images floating around out there by the same designer. It was posted to the old Dingwall forums if I remember correctly.
I think if it hasn’t happened since 2010 it probably won’t ever happen sadly.
