I can relate to the remark about practicing. We are moving to a new house this weekend and I won’t have a big music space for a month or two. I think I am going to pull out the string bass and one synthesizer. That way I can focus on 30 minutes of practice on each before jamming for a couple of nights a week.

I am no faster than I was 30 years ago. I would like to think I am a bit more tasteful in my playing, but not even sure about that. I think one important thing to remember is, if we are not playing pro, for our income, then it is all just for fun - and I AM gonna have fun! I also find playing is an important creative artistic expression of our souls that simply wouldn't be if we are not playing. And important stress relief as well.

True. Though I can tell you this; I would literally order a solid Matte Pink NG3-6 as soon as possible from my closest dealer. With the Aquamarine Metalflake finish, I'm more inclined to wait. It is a gorgeous finish, no doubt, my heart is just set on pink. When the pink NG basses last rolled out, there was no 6-string or 3-pickup models.

Edit: literally as I wrote this, they confirmed it on FB; no solids... :(

That is too bad. I didn't even realize the other one was a "limited edition". I wonder what I would do if I sold things - my inclination would be to not do limited editions only to have people beg me to "make it in that color", etc. later. But I'm sure from a marketing strategy, that is how you sell out a group of product and depending on the industry, make more money on it. Still, if 1000 people like it and I only made 500, I miss out too. All that economics thing again. That is why I play bass - because I don't need to know economics.

Well, I already have my dream 5-string ABHS. It's not going anywhere. Right now, I can't justify the cost or wait for a custom Canadian bass.

The NG3-6 should be a great compliment to the ABHS. A pink D-bird five would be amazing, but I couldn't justify keeping the ABHS in that case. :)

I considered a 4-string as well, but then I realised I'm not going to play in any cool bands, anyway. If I ever get a 4 again, it'll be a Precision of some kind.

Haven't owned a six for almost ten years, and I thought it was due.

What if the wait time wasn’t a factor and you could have it in 6 months or less?

Going from playing hours everyday to an hour a week has taken some finesse from my technique. I know I can sit back in a pocket and groove. My music theory is in the dumps though. It isn’t like I have to be a wizard at it but being able to sight read would be nice.
Ultimately though, yes. Music for me is for my the joy of playing and creating. I do record a little bit and mostly care about originals.

I know if I was busy working in a booth I could tune out the rest. But I have to say, just walking around I for one feel like it is absolutely insane overload, especially if you want to cram everything inside of 2 days, which I did last year. I hope you have a good show this year.

Thanks, and back at you. But I'm just watching livestreams from my friend's booth this year at home. Plenty of my prototype builds are on display there though, actually way more than the last couple of years.

I usually do around 3 days when I go, and typically take a break for a while on Saturday afternoon. Like you, I do go into overload mode cruising around, and every year I know more people, so it seems to get more intense rather than less!
