Dingwall Owners Club

Hey Guys! I have decided to order myself an AmethystBurst Combustion 6-String.
I am thinking Pau Ferro with this one. Whatcha think; Pau Ferro fretboard or Maple fretboard? And why would you choose one over the other?

Good for you man! That’s exciting. Tough call.

I do love maple fretboards and there is also a reason they are on the Nollys.... the snap!

Go with your gut. PF will be very nice and so will maple. Heck, you know what your looking at. And both will look amazing. Go for the sound you want.

Congratulations on your decision to go 6. I really like the looks and tone of PF. I have an AB II with a PF fretboard and love it. But you can't go wrong with either.

So i got the package from Bassdirect (2 days to germany) and damn the Knobs feel and look great!
Don't know yet if i keep them on this way (all pots on middle in the picture / volume full) or turn them around like on all the Dingwallpictures.

I’d stick to Dingwall pups myself.
Nordstrand makes good stuff but I’m not into blades.
That's cool Nate. I'm a bit of a mod freak. I was always modding my Spectors. It's a testimony to my Z3 that I haven't done anything to it.
That updated shot of the Vintage Burst D-bird Standard has got me jonesing for mine to come in. (Patience Grasshopper)

Still waiting for a reply on the Matte Pink finish question (understandably busy with NAMM). If solids are not available, I think I am going with Aquamarine Metalflake. That finish looked stunning on the show floor.
I have not heard that a solid pink is going to be available. The only one I am aware of is the Pink Swirl.

Thank you all for the replies about Pau Ferro versus Maple for my 6-string!

I do like Maple - a lot. And I personally think the bass may look better with Maple. I am considering the Pau Ferro, though, as I think it may be a tad warmer sounding. It may not make much difference, all things considered.
I am upgrading my amp this year for added dynamics so I thought the 6-string with new amp would give me impetus to actually start practicing again as I see so much potential there. I "noodle" all the time, and will learn songs if I want to play out, but I haven't actually practiced in years - rehearsals with a band are not practice. Most of what I am into is my own original music.

That updated pic is amazing. I am excited about these D-Bird Standard basses and it will be neat to see the production.
