FYI - I've got a couple sets of 5 string Payson Ground Wound Fanned Fret strings if anyone is interested. Never used as once it was time for a string change, I obtained and put on their "true flats" which I absolutely love.

I am wondering what the 5-string D-bird in Gold would look like with wenge neck but with Macassar Ebony throughout, with gold speedo bars. The one at NAMM was Wenge fretboard, right?

How about Purple-Silver Abalone?
Yes, it was wenge/wenge. I’m quite sure ebony would look just as good if not better.

The white D-bird 5 that was previewed before NAMM had an ebony board, and I believe it also had an ebony pickguard.

Their site says they do custom guards, but I'm not sure to what degree. I do not have any experience with them... the material just caught my eye.
When I asked dingwall about custom pickguards, they referred me to pickguard heaven. I ended up not getting the pickguard, so I can't give you a reference one way or the other. But they have a ton of choices.
Saw this "thing" at NAMM. Great bass if you happen to have a gig as a Carnival Act.
That was done to save weight.
I think this would go great with Mopar Purple. I like the Blue Abalone that I got from Axetreme on my NG:
