Yeah i was pretty convinced my next bass was going to be a strandberg, but it doesn't seem like theyre going to produce 6 strings, and they're insanely expensive.

i played a 4 string NG2 at The Music Zoo in NY the other day and damn did it feel great under the fingers and look hella cool too. The only thing missing on it for me is headless, other than that its pretty much perfect for a production model made in china

the fanning might be a bit more than id like too (i prefer a milder fan like the strandbergs have) but id get used to it i reckon

LOL I see the piggy bank too. I think that might be an Anaconda Bass. They were present at the recent NAMM too. I’ve been following them on Facebook for awhile.

Does anyone know if the older Super Fatty pickup are Humbucker, single coil or stacked coil and if switched coil are they switchable?

I am not actually sure. I just checked the neck Super Fatty pickup I switched out for a P pickup and the back is sealed, but it DOES have 4 leads which I would assume means it can be wired in series or parallel (or connected to a switch).

Well, due to the weather conditions, I couldn't get my hands on it today - but I struck a really good deal on an Aguilar DB751. I've been lusting for one since it released, and the timing happened to be right. The deal was indeed very, very good.

Has anyone tried the Tone Capsule in a standard Combustion, keeping the pickups in the original positions (i.e. not trying to make it into an NG2)? Alternatively, has anyone with an NG2 moved the neck pickup to the standard Combustion position and if so how did it sound?

I really dig the stock EMG 3-band in my Combustion but am curious how a Tone Capsule might sound in it.....

Pretty sure @BurningSkies has done some of this.
I’ve had both a combustion and an ng at the same time and my advice would be to get a Darkglass pedal and run your combustion passive if you want that sound. It’s way less hassle.

My NG3 has a 3X switch so it pretty well predicts the DGTC w/ a combustion layout well. I liked it enough and didn’t have any strong feelings about the EMG that I put one in my Combustion too.. but also moved it to C2 layout.

Speaking of such things... working on glow testing part two for side markers:

That’s Stewart Semple’s glow powder for paint... aka the glowiest glow pigment/substance in the world. It’s not actually green... that’s fluoresceing/giving off light in regular daylight.

Will be used as side dots and lines on the fret less and after yet another night on the road last night with deplorably bad stage-back lighting, will go on the side markers of the NG.

I am the only one finding the single bridges (NG-2 and others) a bit pokey when palm muting? Its not a huge issue, more of a minor discomfort.

Nope, it was my only complaint when I got mine last year. Over time it has become a non-issue.

Great idea re the glow paint. I just ordered the lit powder and base and intend to use it for the side markers and fret lines on my (non-Dingwall) fretless.

Since you mix yourself, I loaded it up and it was a bit tough to apply. In the future I'll thin it a bit and do more & easier coats. I ended up doing side dots on the NG...first I used the fine silver paint pen in the center of the dots so that there was still black contrast around them. Then a few layers of paint.

I think I've owned just about every Dingwall model over the years except a Prima and Sklar. This is my first AB HS. Not sure if Dingwall makes a HS anymore. But after a week of shedding on this bubinga-wenge-pau ferro beauty I've become a huge fan of the HS. It's also my first passive Dingwall. Tone for days. True, it's not a light-weight at 10 lbs., but it's a pound lighter than the Ken Smith 6 string it replaced.

No, they don't make the HS anymore. Man, that thing is sweet looking.

I believe they do but changed the body to heavy maple instead of CITES listed woods.

I wonder how heavy a solid Wenge bass would be?
