Interesting. I was just reading comments in the FB Dingwall Owners Group about the new Sklar model. The discussion turned to headless basses and DINGWALL GUITARS posted that there will eventually be a headless model.

So what do you think of the new Combustions? What's your favorite burst color? I'm partial to the two on the right. I was told by the Dingwall staff at NAMM that these will be hitting the streets next month!

If I had to give one a home it would be the whalepool followed by the indigo.
Open it up the NG colours and I'd order the green sparkle NG over both, remove the tone capsule and add a plain black gloss pickguard, all black hardware and racing stripe to match my black and white Combustion.
Sheldon's statement that his basses "don't need much EQ" really is true, IME. That being said, the tone capsule is staying in the cavity of my NG.![]()
My opinion is that they are neat but too busy for me. The quilt looks more like fish scales than wood.So what do you think of the new Combustions? What's your favorite burst color? I could hang with the purple. If it only came with a Darkglass pre. (but then it would be an NG)
I pulled the preamp in my Z3 conversion and replaced it with a dual-input buffer (Bartolini AGDB since the existing Bartolini pickups had significantly less output than the P-Tone that I added) with master volume and passive tone control.Yep, I mostly have it flat. I would probably stick a 3 band Glockenklang in there though just for the passive high cut.
Have Payson stopped making 5 string bridges? I could have sworn they made them, but I can't see them on their website anymore...
if you are placing an order, why not just order one of each, that way you can coordinate the instrument with the outfit and always have a fresh look on stage.Well that makes it super easy to place an order then.![]()
Are you planning on another run? We’ve been sold out of the 5 string bridges for about 6 mos approximately. We’re out of the 4 string Fanned bridges as of last week.
Somewhat unrelated, but did you mention working on a coated string for Dingwalls? Still in the market for that and none of the usual folks (Elixir, DR, etc) seem to offer their coated strings long enough for the 37" B.Not at this time.
Not at this time.

La Bella has "extra long scale" tapewounds:Somewhat unrelated, but did you mention working on a coated string for Dingwalls? Still in the market for that and none of the usual folks (Elixir, DR, etc) seem to offer their coated strings long enough for the 37" B.
Not at this time.
Bugger
Rest assured if you did, I’d be there to grab one!
I was interested and clicked on that link.La Bella has "extra long scale" tapewounds:
Invalid Link Removed
That information pertains to the "standard" long scale set. Look below and you will see the info re the "extra long scale" set:I was interested and clicked on that link.
Then I read this.
All standard bass sets are LONG scale length. The 1st (G), 2nd (D) & 3rd (A) strings are 38” from ball-end to silk/taper. The 4th (E) & 5th (B) string are 36 ¾” from ball-end to silk/taper. Only the silk portion of the string should wrap around the tuning post or else the string will break. Also available in other scales for 4-String, 5-String & 6-String Sets:
I’m not so sure that’ll work for the B.
