I like the unmarked boards, but pearloid blocks are pretty stunning. Luminlay dots for side markers. Tons of fun for $35! And you can do it yourself, it’s easy.

For me - I mainly use the side dots. I agree that treble side dots on the fretboard are not really as usable. I dislike blocks, but the speedo bars have a cool look. I agree these or center dots could make things easier for you, but I have found the side dots to be mostly sufficient.

I had an AB with no face markings and liked it a lot, but found that some others on stage didn’t. With the fan and 5 strings sometimes pickup players couldn’t read my bass or fingers in a pinch. That’s why the rastabust has blocks at 5 and 12. It was a minimum of landmarks for people to see across stage.

I'll be difficult, too. No pick guard. Add a natural pickup shaped block in which it is even with the surface of the bass (not the other pickups). Clear pickguard if you must.




Edit: Ok, if I have to choose one, while I love the colors on the top pickguard, I think I'd probably go with the bottom one.

I have an AB1 fretless 6 on order. I had heard previously they aren't doing lines any more, which was fine by me, but because it is a recent change they are offering either the fullwidth lines or what they have described as "short lines on both the bass and treble sides of the fingerboard that do not extend across the fingerboard."

My question is: has anyone seen these? I've only been able to find pictures of the old full lines or none at all. I'm not a fan of white lines (brown or black might be ok), but I have no idea whether the short lines will look ok. If they look a bit weird it might be better to just have none.

I think they all look great. It’s a little bit difficult for me because the background is so similar to the bass body(it’s not exactly standing out in the mix). In those shots I like the top and bottom.

The gist of it is that Brexit with no deal will probably throw the British (and maybe European) economy into a big slump and will likely devalue the British pound (i.e. = better exchange rate).

A point of curiosity regarding the blocks/speedo bars/plain fretboard, do you all feel there is an inherent advantage to either? For me, I only use the blocks when I'm learning a song (most likely seated where I can see them). Once I know it, and playing while standing, I don't look at them, and can't see them much if I do, that's what the side dots are for, right? Just curious.

I just picked up this beauty and I have to say, I'm quite surprised at how much I like the block markers. I find they really help once you get past the 14th fret or so and the difference in position between the G string and the side marker starts to make things a bit tricky. They kind of point you in the right direction, which is about one fret to the left of the side marker as you approach the end of the fretboard. I'm rethinking the Speedo bars I have on order, though I think it would be a shame to cover up so much Ziricote with them!

I have actually eMail Dingwall, whilst not for that question, I did mention I was told it had SFs on it by the shop in the UK , however, and also wanted to confirm the age. The bass was specced by the previous owner.

Hey y’all.Have been thinking about changing out the pickgaurd on my Laguna seca blue NG2 to a white pearloid similar to these.

This is my bass

Anyone know where I can get good quality pickgaurds from for an NG2?

You could pop a pick up out and look at the bottom to confirm. It will say there I’m pretty certain.

Also, the newer Super fatties are designated SF2 and they have the same shells as all the rest of the Dingwall pick ups now.

I’ll be able to help you out with this very soon. I don’t believe they are offering the partial lines on the treble side, only the bass side but I could be mistaken on this. I honestly don’t know how my bass is coming anymore as we went back and forth about fret board markers quite a bit. I do know I have the top markers but assume no bottoms.

Thank you and question answered. I just had a close look and the top left of the pickup covers state SF2, these are defo the new Super Fatties.
