I know we've had some of this discussion before, but why do people think that if it is in Z2 configuration that it is a Sklar. Especially with barts in it. My bigger question is: Has there ever been a Sklar with anything but a candy coating. I think the answer is no.

I don’t know man. That could have been an early sklar. It does say it has mando frets.? And being a 1 of 1? I don’t know what that means but it’s oviously more then just an “early production” Z.

It’s very similar to my buddies prima.

Sorry, there’s a strap in the way.......

I don’t care to try to sound like Jaco, since I can’t play like Jaco ;)

Ya think Sheldon could make the switch parts and diagram available?

Personally I’d take the D bird switch and change the solo bridge setting to the one your looking for. The jazz paralell and with that have 4 killer options in that switch.

That middle pickup solo’d is money though.

The MM in series Is bold and cuts through heavy mixes but in parallel is more traditional MM Imo.
With 3x switches giving the MM in parallel a boost, again, IMO should bring it to pretty comparable settings. More mid cut but close.

I don't get it. No mandolin frets either. If you don't know enough to move your belt buckle to the side, you should not strap on an instrument as nice as this. In other words, only YOU can prevent buckle rash...

Yes, as much as I love the series setting (all 3) on the D Bird, the mid soloed, for me, is the most cutting, biting, grindy tone. Just all that string energy focused into one perfectly placed port of entry. There’s no choice but to cut.

But for the FATNESS, the series 3X setting is so good.

Oops - I was looking at it on my phone and didn't zoom in to realize that bridge+middle parallel was on there. I would think I personally could live without that one. Would be interested to hear from those who use it what they use it for. (Position 2 on the D-Bird / NG-3.)

Peter, if you search back in this thread a few weeks, you will see info from the two members who had Maurilio ("Mo") Mina of Nordstrand put in a 6-way switch for them. I think it was @Bassheart365 and @husky123 .
Oops, maybe it was @nismaniac
The switch is a standard part available from Stew Mac. Sheldon isn't going to get involved in that, at least not at this time. Plenty of other irons in the fire.

So, having changed my SJ5XXX wiring by reversing the bridge and middle PUP leads at the series/parallel switches, I have everything useful (for me, the bridge solo is not useful on either the SJ5XXX or my SPJ5). However; there is 1 setting I would like to try or hear, and it only looks possible by using the 6-way rotary in example 2 above. That way, I would have 5 useful settings including bridge/middle. Hmmm...

How easy would it be to make position 1 on my 3X middle pickup solo instead of bridge? I literally never use a solo bridge pickup, but I'd use the middle pickup a lot if I could have it solo.

If you have series/parallel switches, change the bridge wires to the middle switch and vice versa. You end up with m solo, m/b series, m/n parallel, n solo. This works for me. Hopefully I've got it right this time.

I learned that from Peter Tork! When I saw him wearing it like that during an episode, I started wearing my belt like that all of the time. With my electric lime green bell bottoms of course!

So if I want the classic "jazz" mode (Bridge and Neck), I can't have Middle solo? That's not a sacrifice I'm willing to make. Too bad. Thanks for the help!

Edit: what about Bridge and Middle in parallel instead of Bridge solo; is that possible without messing up the other settings?

You're sharp - I watched the Monkees but never picked up on that! Every time I hear mention of the jeans style of those days, I want to listen to "Bell Bottom Blues" (I don't want to fade away...).

I suppose with 1 of 1, you never know. I'm sure there is some reference though back in all those old interviews that Sheldon talks about it. But interesting to see that config in a Prima (that is what I think it is). Makes you wonder if there was anything before the first official Sklars.
