@AB Nate hows the fretlessing coming? Last time I checked the extremities of the bass were giving you a bit of trouble if I recall correctly.

Thats a shame. Sheldon would probably make a killer set. I would...but my only Dingwall is a 6. If I felt really inclined, I could order a set, throw on the B and E and play a bit on those as a benchmark test.

If Sheldon makes flats, he will be acquiescing to customer demand. He has gone on record that Dingwall basses are not made with flats in mind. He envisions a Lamborghini, not a Chevelle (or other 60s car reference) with his basses.

This is true and that there is only a still a handful of fretless Dingwalls in existence so far demand is still pretty limited I bet. If I was to wager a guess I’d bet there is still under 20 of them..... most of the ones we’ve seen are long scale which then poses the issue of having to make 2 different scale lengths of flats as well. I bet some would love them to dress a P with as well but still. Numbers are pretty low I bet in comparison......

I don't think it would be that difficult for them to do something similar with flats. Also, even though yes, flats are great with fretless basses and nice for protecting the fingerboard, plenty of people use them on fretted basses. I suspect a decent number of super series players are already rocking flats from various brands.

So many string options with the Super series. I always have a set of TI flats for the Super P4.

Understood, but he does also make "classic" instruments that I'm sure wear flats. Flats are more versatile than people seem to give them credit and sometimes theres studio work where I would like to take a Dingwall, but the sound in mind is definitely a flatwound vibe.

Yup. My super P5 has cobalt flats on it.

Not me man. Nickel Dingwall rounds for mine. The marching orders on my Fretless had consideration given to the fact that I'll be using rounds and I'm pretty dedicated to them.

Very nice comparison. To me, the Custom sounded more complex and "open" on all pickup settings with the tone up. The difference with the tone down was pretty negligible.

Definitely a little more clank and scooped sounding with the DG plugin on the Custom. I love the wood pickguard on the custom. Of course I'd be afraid that I'd get pick scratches all over it.

Also should be said, that Rufus does really helpful and great videos on these sort of things.

I dont wanna complain but I think its a bit odd that Dingwall doesnt make 5-string set with .135 gauge low B string, that would be ideal for drop A tuning. I know that .130 can do it too...but just barely.
