I almost bought a rick which had a warped neck.
Expensive bass (at the time) and the problem was not so obvious if you never encountered it.

In the end the whole bass went in the trash.
I was very lucky to not be the one who bought it.

So yeah, no NT for me, never.

I have a couple NT's yeah, I understand the worry, but as long as you get a multi-laminate neck and keep it properly tuned and adjusted it should be ok from what I've seen from older models in stores and what iv'e heard from others.

I would never get a single piece NT.

I'm not a fan of that mayonnaise, looks like a corrupted Ibanez SR.

I think it's good to have some competition on the market, but that's just my opinion. In any case, it's very obvious that Dingwall is a huge trendsetter in the bass world right now, with a lot of brands releasing fanned fret versions of their guitars and basses.

Yes, Dingwall weren't the first to do it, but I think we can all agree they were the ones to make it popular?

It's true, Dingwall got the ball rolling, and it's always good to have competition, however, no one in my opinion has made an affordable alternative that is comfortable to play, the Ibanez isn't bad, but at 35.5 it's missing the whole point- it's not just a look, it's a sound and a tactical advantage.

Really really want to see the Schecter Riot come out in FF, I would jump so fast.

Saw a couple of warped BTB7 necks too, that's what, 5 ply IIRC ?

I have a NT BTB706PB that I only got because it was at a pawn shop looking sad.
The BTB's at least a few years old have two truss rods, you can take out any warp other than a really bad case of hump.

Sure, on some models you can try and get it back.
On some others you can't.

The basic reality is that not all trees want to be basses.
On a BO there's always an easy solution, not on a NT.

But true maybe I'm just being paranoid and it's not statistically bound to ever become a problem, I don't know.

You are right, I don't think I would spend over 1K on NT, even then 1K is a lot to lose.

I played a schecter FF. Not sure what model but it’s not cheap but man..... what’s piece of garbage. Crapola.
I’m not a fan of the Ibanez or LTD offering either but I did just recently play one ibby that wasn’t half bad.

I’d say if I was to brand hop
I’d be looking at blasius, le Fay, or padalka

It's a stiletto, I'm selling my standard 35" one because the reach and balance is not good- fit and finish is nice however. The Riot has better balance and shape.

Now I really like LTD, but the brand new stuff is hit and miss, I have a F-415 that is balanced and has one of the nicest tops and fretwork iv'e ever seen, and my B-1005 bumbinga is top notch. And the Rose B-1005 MS SE was incredibly well crafted, the neck pocket was a thing of beauty, sadly I returned due to UV damage (stupid demo stickers)

However the new B-1005 MS and multiple other guitars and basses have had crappy wood, terrible finish and nuts that look like they where cut with a mouse's teeth

Sadly I will no longer buy an LTD without seeing it in person.

I was referring to multiscale options only.

When it comes to mono scale basses I think most brands have something of value to offer up

The scale is not a deal breaker as it has a well articulated b string.

It wasn’t until I replaced the neck pick up with a P-tone that I found a more diverse sound from the Combustion.

I have an Ibanez and an NG3, play in church, and have a very similar experience. Ibanez = warm&smooth. NG = all I play now. I do miss how easy it is to get the warm/smooth tone, a bit, though

Usually about 1/2 the song set is fairly aggressive (relatively), I usually use the middle PU soloed with the bass at 1/4, treble almost zero, mids at 1/2. To get the warm/smooth sound for the rest of the set, I turn on all PUs, and increase the bass to 3/8 (1/2 would be way too much), mids down to almost 0, treble up a bit to maybe 1/4. This is all depending on the song and the mood. DG pre, though, so it's inherently aggressive and a challenge to tame (the Payson RC string help vs SS). Sometimes I need to alter the pre in my amp head, too.

Early stages, but it looks like a cover band I'm starting to play with will be mostly/all on the aggressive side of those settings.

I'm curious - anyone still checking the forum on Dingwallguitars.com? Ever since they switched over to the new site, I found it hard to navigate, so I haven't checked it in a long time. Looks like there are still new posts there, unfortunately some are very old, but not being answered. It seems like this thread is the place to go.
