That 18-ish month lead time is a blessing and a curse. It's a curse because, obviously, you'll be waiting for 18-ish months before you get your bass, or in my case, basses.

It's a "blessing" because, after you put your deposit down, you now have anywhere from 12-21 months to figure out how you're gonna pay for your order. For me, when I have a specific task that has a goal that I REALLY want to achieve, I can laser focus to get to my goal. Now, I do realize that my situation may not be normal, I have a decent paying full-time job, a band gig that pays almost as much as my FT job, and a wife that makes 2x what I make, but this is a scalable operation. I'm not suggesting that anyone call up your favorite bass dealer and order 3 or 4 basses, like some jack@$$ did( :whistle: ), but if you REALLY want a D-Roc Custom instead of a Standard, there are ways to get that done. Maybe you start packing your lunch instead of buying lunch? Eating at home instead of eating out? A few less Starbuck's runs could get you closer to the bass you really want. If it's feasible, a few bucks out of each paycheck into a savings acct. could be the ticket.

Me and @singlemalt have gone a different route - used. Gotta help support those folks who want to buy a newer one. :)

Either way - saving up still applies.

Always on the prowl! And I have to say, used Dingwalls are a pretty safe bet, the four that have come and gone recouped costs.

The two I have now arrived in mint condition.

Rather than planning every detail of a build, I just look to see what pops up and if I can’t sleep thinking about it, I’ll buy it. I’ve tried a mandatory two week cooling off period, but I’m not the only guy who can spot a deal.

So ya got to be ready to pounce.

I'll probably get a Canadian Dingwall someday, but it's low on my priority list. I'm really happy with my NG-2 and D-Bird, and my band only plays in 2 tunings, so there isn't anything driving a desire for a 3rd bass.

Also, with how quickly Dingwall is innovating it's hard to put my finger on what "the one" for me is. I know I'm the kind of person who would probably end up with multiple Canadian builds, but I'm trying to keep my mind limited to the idea of having one right now. I've wavered between Afterburner II and Z for the past couple years, but the Custom D-Roc has me thinking again!

I’m really liking these black daggers. I think they are gonna be a great fit for the Jazz/Latin stuff. They sound and feel great.

Next up for new strings. The 5er is gonna get some medium lights and see where that goes. She’s been rocking some old stainless for a bit now.

That’s pretty the reason why I placed an order for a new Super P. I’m finishing my master’s degree in music and even though i’m playing gigs and teaching, it’s not like i have 3k+ just sitting around in my bank account :laugh:

I did some math, set up a plan and now i’m a month away from saving all the cash and about 7 months ahead of my initial deadline :cool:

And the reality is, is that every year the price goes up for new ones sooo..........

The longer one waits the more it costs..... vicious circle.

I would put big blades on mine if I wanted to cough up $400 for them.

Though the Big splits are really good sounding too.

still waiting for my third pup to come in, I do my own solder work, but best believe I'm going to coat it in green masking tape in case of splatter.

From what I heard it's 5 grounds and the rest are screw clamp connections.

Big Splits are godly; I have them in an Afterburner.

I put Big Singles in a Combustion; unique and great, but if I had it to do again, I would have gone with the Big Splits for that one, too.
