They don’t put it in for free, they have skilled workers doing this stuff and labour is not free. I will also add that all the electronics installs on Dingwalls are extremely well done and amazingly neat.

What about the exact drilling 3 holes plus on a Canadian a different vol pot with push/pull or an NG with the added active passive switch hole plus the exacting installation of the preamp in these holes including wiring.
Plus a bit of profit would be nice right?
No, I was specifically asking about the DG pre amp module, not the labor involved.

The convo prior to your question was about comparing a non equipped(DGTC) ABZ to an NGs price point and the DG being a cost factor in doing so.
It’s cool that you can do your own work but that’s not the topic. A quick online search showed me a DGTC for $220-250.
Again to buy a DGTC equipped bass FROM DINGWALL it’s a significant additional cost in the described scenario above.

If I was in that boat, I would just buy a DG preamp pedal- If I was someone afraid to drill into wood (tell you the truth it's not very fun to remove something you can't put back)
But IMHO I value the the bass as a whole over a piece of kit inside and would spring for the ABZ.
I played my Le Fay 5 string at a gig tonight. I feel a sense of betrayal. Not really. I think it's good to mix it up a bit. The music comes from within.
Nothing wrong about that. Le Fay make some amazing basses.
Well just to be clear I never meant you could get a canadian clone of an NG3 for the same money.
Just that nowadays NG3 money buys you a base canadian AB.
The NG3 has always been within about $400 or so of the base ABZ price. So that’s pretty much been the case all along no?
I don't know, I have a personal policy to try and avoid giving any money to china so I never followed those prices closely.
However this not within $400, this is the exact same price.
2350GBP minus the 3 pups option is 2150GBP or 2397e at today's exchange rate.
So in fact the canadian one is even 2 euros cheaper.
Ok I don't know, maybe I'm the only one so see this as making no sense.

I’m not sure why it’s listed £300 cheaper than the other ABZ 5 so best not to do your calculations off that listing.
I’m looking at the Dingwall price list for 2019 and the NG3 is around $2800 vs ABZ at $3300 so there ya go.
I have the impression that NG3 are expensive in germany, on bassdirect a normal NG3 5 seems to be more around 2150e, not 2400e.
Indeed the prices here in germany are strange from time to time....I got my NG3 in purple for 1949€ in the beginning of the year. Now the same bass is listed for 2399€ here (Invalid Link Removed)
Well musik-produktiv is even stranger anyway, I ordered my turbo tuner from them recently and their website didn't work at all (when entering payment details I got an error 4xx or 5xx regardless of the payment method or the language used).
I ended up having to order by them via amazon

Another “possible” factor is that ABZ most likely was ordered 18(?) months ago on the previous price list and they are offering it up as such. Meanwhile the combustion’s come out of the factorY at a faster rate and could “possibly” be priced off of a more current price list.....

Been there, be careful with payment errors, once I purchased a 44 Mag online for $700, kicked it out with an error, tried a few more times and gave up.
