You could talk directly to Dingwall about possible saddle replacements or a whole new bridge assembly. That’s weird though. These are paysons on this bass.

Side note. I’m sure I can speak for the group when I say we would all appreciate a photo of said Prima.

Here's a couple of old pictures I took about a year after I got it. Walnut body with Padauk top and back. It was "rode hard and put away wet" - you can see significant pick scrapes in the wood, and the pickup covers are really worn. Sheldon's signature on the headstock is barely visible. I've oiled it up periodically and while you can still see the pick marks, I think the wood is recovering a bit. I haven't tried ironing them out - they really don't bother me too much - but I've thought of it. But it plays and sounds like a beauty. I recent bought a 3x Combustion which I like a lot, but there is just a musicalness to these old Bartolini pickups that the new ones don't capture.

Oh, and by the way, I did hear back from Jeff that he believes they have saddles to fit, but they don't have any on hand. I think I might try scraping the paint off the inside of the string end next time first. But just in case anyone else is wondering ...

There's a very similar one on Reverb - as far as I can tell it's a twin except for the fact that the pickups are right next to each other instead of spaced (like MM position). I'd love to have it to complete the set, but couldn't really justify it right now.

Pulled out the D Bird last night. Really liking the solo bridge setting with a helping of bass boost and slight germanium drive from the Electrofoods Germ Warfare. I haven’t played bass much in the last 6 months, so my ears and fingers feel like they’re back at ground zero. Time to woodshed.

I just got to say how honored I am to work with such an amazing company that is Dingwall Guitars!

It was talked about how unfortunately US tariffs went up a lot for USA dealers importing goods made in China like the D-Roc Standard / Combustion / NG basses. However this did not get mentioned so I thought I would share how awesome Dingwall is!

Towards the end of last month, Dingwall sent a notice to all dealers in the USA regarding the tariff increases. Dingwall offered to credit dealers with any basses that were shipped and PRE-SOLD between September 1st, to October 1st. So if a dealer had a bass shipped to them during this period that was pre-sold BEFORE September, the dealer is getting the amount of extra Tariff credited.

This is a HUGE relief for many dealers in the US and shows how much Dingwall Guitars cares for and looks out for its dealers. I most certainly did not expect them to do such a thing and just makes me feel even more honored to be working with them.

So a big shout-out to Sheldon and the entire Dingwall Guitars team!

Thanks for this. I was trying to figure out how this would play out a few weeks ago, and neither Dingwall nor Bass Central seemed to have their arms around this at that time. My D-Roc Standard isn't scheduled for delivery until November, so it sounds like I need to discuss this further with Bass Central.

Yes. That is between you and your dealer. Every company handles things differently.

Yes and yes. FDV's + nickel rounds totally float my tonal boat.

I was freaking out about this just prior to September but Dingwall and Dealers weren’t the only ones confused about what was happening, the customs agents were as well, and it was difficult to get a straight answer until it actually happened. Any import bass that was not pre-sold that arrived after or on Sept 1st has the new import fee. Dealers ordering basses for stock were not reimbursed the 15%.

I thought that was the case but wondered if you changed your mind. I am going to order FDVs for my NG3. I also prefer the nickel strings.

I've asked this before, but here goes again. Do you have the possibility of recording the FDVs? I'm considering a swap, but I wanna hear them in action first, preferably solo. I'm also considering ordering a custom set of Häussel (pronounced "hoy-sell" for non German-speaking people) Bassbar pickups since I like their sound and they come with series/parallel operation.

They have more of that midrange "grunt" I so like about EMG pickups.

You are getting to the heart of my question. I purchased it in July for delivery in November. If the tariff applies, I’m not eager to pay more than our agreement, but I’m also not the guy to leave somebody else hanging over what I see as a mutual problem.

I’ll be talking to them again before they ship it, and I’m sure we can come to a mutually agreeable conclusion.

If the basses were not yet sold you didn't lose anything. Typically on dealer price sheets it states "prices are subject to change without notice." That includes expenses.

The input jack on my NG3 moves a bit when I wiggle my cable.
I can turn the threaded part which is visible from the outside with my fingers to the left and right.
Is this how it is supposed to be?
Signal is fine, no crackling or anything.

I am just curious and I don't want to screw out the input jack to have a look.

There is a nut visible on the outside of the instrument that holds the jack in place. It sounds like that nut is loose. You might be able to tighten it with a socket without taking anything apart. If it spins too much, bad things could happen. So to be safer, you might want to unscrew the screws and slide the whole assembly out a little bit, just enough to hold on to the jack so you can tighten the nut without the jack spinning.
