Hm. Any opinions on pau ferro vs wenge fingerboards on supers in particular? I’ve got a custom order hurtling towards the finish line and now I’m undecided.

Thanks for that, I’m up to 18 months wait now and hoping to see a pic on FarceBook or something soon.
Lemme preface this by stating, unequivocally, that I'm NOT complaining...
I'm at 19 months, with another month, or so, to go. I'm not complaining because I made some changes, which, I'm sure, directly altered my timeline. A couple of changes were pretty minor, but there were also some major revisions, and I did order multiple basses, sooo...
I'm in the home stretch!!
On an sidenote, I'm assuming that coated strings should NOT be soaked in denatured alcohol? I was gonna build one of the tube-shaped string rejuvenation stations like @husky123 built, but I couldn't find PVC pipe in the length I wanted, I don't have the tools to cut anything, I wasn't gonna pay for said pipe to be cut, and there were bucket-like containers in the same aisle as the alcohol, so, that's what I ended up with. I know a few guys in construction, so I'll probably ask one of those guys to grab some stuff from one of their job sites. I still want the tube thingy...

I went to Lowe's, and I got the impression that asking them for any other help other than finding something in the aisle they were already in, was going WAY above their pay grade. I was already irritated, so I bought what could get the job done and I dipped out...
Maybe Home Depot is more accommodating??
I hate Lowe’s. It’s a personal problem of mine so pay no mind. I just find it funny when a American from a southern state comes up to canada and assumes we should build things the same way...... we have this crazy thing called “winter” up here..... anyways.... oh yeah. And then they buy out the Canadian option of Rona only to ruin it and convert them to more Lowe’s filled with useless crap. Home Depot it is.... by a slim margin. Ok I’m done.
generally speaking Home Depot is better stocked with actual construction materials and better customer service, at least up here.
If you have any construction friends in HVAC or Plumbing they should be able to definitely help you out. You’ll probably want to use a schedule 40 PVC For this. “Schedule 20” is too thin a wall IMO.
In all honesty, you could even just hit up a plumbing wholesaler and talk nice to someone there. You’ll have to buy the full length of pipe and some glue/primer(probably the most expensive part) but I’m sure someone will cut it down for you there if your suppliers are anything like ours are.

I have a set of the current Canadian knobs on my NG and there was no problem in mounting them.

Hmm, ok. Sounds like I should probably reach out to Dingwall.
The previous owner did some work to the nut for heavy gauge strings too which I'll probably look to undo, so there'll be a new nut there probably as well.
Was there a Combustion 3X upgrade kit? (like the NG2 to NG3 kits)
Does Dingwall sell new nuts? I guess I've never reached out about it but my intuition was to go to a local luthier about that. I've had a couple brand new nuts made locally.
I really like wenge, I have an LTD with one and I'm currently having a bass built with a 5pc one (not a Dingo).
The look can't be beat, but know that it has a course grain texture, most seem to love, and it is a mid sounding wood with some clean and sweetened highs that aren't as crisp as maple.
The drawback is it is seriously heavy stuff, and will add a little weight to the bass. Also no issues with multi laminates, but single piece necks tend to move around.

Ish. Someone else bought it but didn’t bond with it and I caught the flip.
I think mostly it will depend on the vibe your going for. If your going modern( I know.... it’s a Dingwall) go wenge but if your trying to capture a bit more of a classic sound and feel I’d go PF.
Myself, on a super, is go PF or splurge for Zirocote, maybe even ebony if I wanted a dark board. I really loved the Zirocote board on my SJ....

I have an LTD with PF, some pieces are dark and swirly, some are pretty ugly. It sounds much like ebony, but a little more rounded and less brittle. It feels fantastic on the fingers, and is known to be a long lasting, easy to care for wood.
Zirocote, is a little like PF for smoothness, but a little more "rosewoody" for tone, I love the contrasting chocolate and cream coloration I'm having a Bocote fretboard done which is related to Zirocote. Zirocote would be my choice if price was not an issue.
Wenge is close to rosewood for sound but more attack to it- I myself don't care for the texture much, that said, it can be polished very smooth with just a hint of texture. Some pieces have really cool mineral deposites giving you streaks of gold in the grain, but I'm not sure how Dingwall selects the woods.
