My brain auto-translated and told me "neck", even after you wrote "bridge". Now I get it. And I didn't try a P-tone in the bridge position on my Combustion. It was in the neck position. Now maybe I should try it just for grins.

But I have to say, I’m really liking the bridge in parallel solo’d. It’s focused and punchy. Sure, it doesn’t have the volume, but I’ve compensated with a volume pedal. Once the volume adjustment is dialed, it gets a great sound. Tight, punchy and nice range with the stock tone control.

I suppose I could get in the habit of keeping some room to move in the volume knob.

I always tended to overlook the bridge solo on my other Dingwalls.

I might even try switching the neck back to parallel since I haven’t heard it that way yet. The bass came with the neck already wired in series.

I spend most of my time with the bridge solo’d or next click up with both pups in parallel. The series neck and both in series are certainly louder, but a little too wide and mushy.

Really digging the Payson flats now that I’ve dialed the intonation and action.

I’ll pull out the soldering iron and see what happens next.

I've got to come up with a patch on my HX Effects to compensate for the volume differences between selections. I tend to stick to one because of the level changes.

I’ve just done some investigating and according to the Dingwall website a P-Tone comes as standard in the bridge position of a Super PJ! Still not 100% certain if that’s what’s in mine as I didn’t spec the build, but it seems likely.

Anyone here planning on selling a Dingwall in the next little while? My SJ5 is getting lonely.

I thought I had a few Zs lined up a while back but the timing didn't work out (stupid roof needed replacing). I'd be interested in a Darkglass NG3 (I don't really like the other colors) or an active Z with wenge. There is a beautiful Z3 at L&M in Calgary but it's passive. If I get an NG, my plan will be to look for an SP5 shortly after.

We are talking about this. If someone were to put in an order I will honor the pricing based on what is standard, but we think the FDV is "standard" but the "P-Tone" is recommended because the output of the Split P is so hot. The price on the price list is consistent with a FDV pickup however.

Interesting. I believe my SPJ5 has an FD3 in the bridge position. I seem to recall reading that Sheldon (and crew?) carefully located the bridge pickup to provide the best balance with the neck pickup. Does anyone know if the bridge pickup location has ever changed? Or are different bridge pickups being installed in the same exact spot?

Not sure about the exact position changing but the output is greater with the split P and P tone compared to FDV etc. They are looking into the website to make sure the details are accurate regarding this specification.
