I also have been curious about the DG HB

For a phone recording of a bar gig the bass sounded really clean and articulate.

I’ve been GASSIN on the genzler cabs fo sho..... but I gotta say the legacy had me disappointed when I A/B it against the Mesa WD800. Your making it sound good but I couldn’t even consider it compared to the WD-800. Curious what attracted you to it being the gear connoisseur you are?

Thanks. Yeah, he carries 4 and I usually carry 3 or 4.

The HB is good, but its not life changing. With the gear you have, I don't think you'd find any real use for it. Heck, the way I've got it set, it really doesn't do much but add a nice gloss to my tone. I'm sure what I was expecting, but without having an XLR out, it's not much more than a clean booster.

Honestly, I'm not sure why I picked up the GK as opposed to the Mesa, other than it was $100 cheaper and it's probably going to end up as a backup amp when I can pick up the amp I really want, the Bergantino Forte HP. I've used GK amps before and had good time with them. I think Sweetwater had a better deal on GK stuff than they did in Mesa. Lol! I've been wanting to try the WD-800. I had a D800+ and dug it, so I gots love for Mesa gear, too...

that’s kind of what I was thinking about the HB. A great addition to a passive bass but I probably wouldn’t have much use for it. Where I could see it being more handy is if they make an “ultra” version. More like a DI box for recording or compact gigging.

I’ve been curious on the Forte HP as well but I’ve previously found their gear to... “clinical”. That said, I’ve only had the opportunity to play the B amp. The Forte Hp does give me some unknowing GAS though.

The Mesa stuff is just killing it. The D800+ is awesome and the WD800..... I just couldn’t not bring it home. I wanted to like the legacy but couldn’t when I was able to do a side by side comp. I liked the MB800 I would use in a rental room sometimes but it was just there doing it’s thing and doing it well without anything to compare it to so I thought I’d like the legacy more.

My fav head is still my Genz Benz shuttle max 12.2 but the WD easily stole second.

Thinking I might get rid of the GB shuttle 6.2 I have because of it.

I think a flurry of basses (with gear) pix should happen here soon. Been interesting to see what everyone uses and maybe pedal pix too. I have two Dingwalls...Super PJ and a custom AB ...running thru a Genzler Magellan 800 and an Audiokenesis Hathor 1505....also a Mesa 410 that I rarely use unfortunately. Pix will follow if anyone interested. Please share your gear and details...if you're bored. :)

A whole litter of Dingwalls (10th anniverary/DG edition NG3, 3 AB I's, Z3, Prima).

Generally all go through either an Axe-Fx II or an AX8 (amp/cab/FX modelers - best in the business by no small margin).
At home/studio then output via whatever monitoring solution.
Live, I run custom IEMs (1964 Ears "Qi"). If I am asked to bring a cab, AudioKinesis ThunderChild118 or 112, depending. Fed by a QSC power amp. It's rare I take a cab, though.

I’ve probably put this up here before but
This is the couch/ behind the couch options plus the couple of pedals that have been bouncing back and forth to rehearsal with me. I can seem to keep a pedal board straight to save my life but this hasn’t really changed in a few months. Just a basic board that really has a slew of options I don’t use in the HX.
1 setting for fretted, 1 for fretless, I phaser for fun right now and a looper setting on the stomp.

My setup, minus the cab I will use if required. I run a Kemper with a nice Darkglass microtubes amp profile. It's set to a clean, big sounding setting. Pedal wise, I rotate things in and out, but the constants are the MXR compressor for very light compression, the ring thing for octave up or down. For gainy tones, I run a loop with the ls2 to blend clean tones with a zvex wooly mammoth and the now out of production musicelectronix Gemini overdrive.
