I haven't been able to match it, no matter what pickup setting and EQ setting I tried. I could play with the EQ more in software after I record, but I'm wondering if changing to a different type of strings might do it. Currently it has the same strings that came with the bass (which I think are nickel roundwounds), and it's been about a year and a half. I think the issue right now is that the tone of the NG-2 is inherently bright/clear, and in that song, the bass has this punchiness with defined attack, but not bright at all. Maybe compression is part of it?

I have other basses that actually get a lot closer to that tone, and they're all PJ pickups ones from either Fender or Ibanez. Perhaps the original bass player on the tracked used some type of PJ bass? However, because there are a couple of parts in the song that are better suited to the low B string instead of going up an octave, I'd have to use the Dingwall because it's the only fretted 5-string I have.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's keyboard bass.

So I’ve been thinking..... I know, I know.... sounds dangerous. Well this time it’s not and I think a few of ya will agree.

A NAMM wish list!
It’s simple so maybe one day maybe these 2 things could be reality.

1. A six string P tone.
2. A production Super series.

I miss my J and and stumbled on a $200 P today. It’s an MTD CRB and the build is not far from my old combustion which of course got me thinking..... What if it had a D on the headstock and few slanted frets?

A six string P-Tone would be an instant buy (maybe 2 or 3 of them) if they happened.

As for a Production Super... I dunno man. A barebones Super is pretty affordable, if you ask me. I'm not sure there would be a lot of savings, looking at how much the Combustions/NGs are.

perhaps but if you compare a Canadian D bird to a production there is still quite a difference in price and that is probably the closest comparison. If the production units were passive only it could be pretty feasible???!! Maybe?

its ok - kind of a page out of Fbass' finish style - not a bad thing, just not as original as i would have expected - not a fan of those ghost blocks at all though. Having said that, if it showed up at my door... ;)

I don’t understand the second last one. The NG2 yellow being $2050.
Is this a list of western Canadian inventory? Is the yellow used?

however I do think this list does reflect that a production super could be attainable around the $2k mark(hopefully less) as @Waltsdog suggested. I don’t recall what a Canadian super runs and don’t have the price list handy but it is closer to $4k is it not?

Yep. Around 4k CAD.
For reference, my spec'd Super P was about 4,1k EUR. I'd definitely get a Super Combustion (is that a thing? :D) for around 2k

ah, i just reread Ranjit's email - he said mainly the east side of the country in the LnM chain....so, i guess thats MY area afterall,... i know the Markham Ontario LnM had prob 4 that i saw (yesterday) - two Droc/ 2 Combustions - might have been more, but i close my eyes and leave the wallet in the truck. ...he also stated they were all NEW in that list - maybe a demo model(?)
...also, my Super PJ back in 2015 (passive) was over $3500 new - so ya i assume 4K range now.
