I haven't touched them so they're just factory default. Would lowering them change the tone too? I've raised/lowered pickups on other basses before and it seems to only change the volume?

Factory default is generally on the high side. The dealer I got my NG from explained to me that high pickups can actually deform the string's pattern of vibration and choke the tone. He then adjusted the pickup height in front of me while playing the open string, and I found that there was a notable improvement in clarity that overrode any drop in output.

There is a Dingwall Video that explains how to set the PU height.
I just set mine as they were too high, the "G-string" clearance should be 1/8" or 3mm.
BTW, it did remove a bit of the aggressiveness that I thought I had too much of

I recently picked up a Super J with PJ pickups and Glockenlang preamp. I'm looking for a diagram with the 4 point pickup selector and how it effects the preamp setting of the pickups.

I just checked and mine's exactly 3mm.

If you still have too much snarly aggression, wiring the PU's to parallel helps
I have done so and parallel wiring sure suits my ears & needs.

I think you may have series and parallel positions swapped.

The 4-way selector is likely wired like this from front to back:

Neck solo
Neck/bridge in series
Neck/bridge in parallel
Bridge solo

Hmmm...Not sure I love that bridge on that bass. To my eye it is at odds with the curve of the body. I'm sure I'd get used to it immediately if it were mine, though.

My first thought was “ Great bridge!”

Looks like the tried and true 18mm spacing bridge used on the AB’s. I’ve always liked that bridge. Makes sense.

Edit: hang on now, that bridge looks like you would have to thread the string through the end rather than dropping it in.

I’m not sure how I feel about the individual string bridges, but I’m soon to find out.!

I bet its still a drop in, top load bridge. I think it is just a little cosmetic improvement to the bridge on my ABI?

I like the bridge but would have preferred black hardware. Swapped out the chrome or grey hardware on all my overseas Dingwalls and wish it was a factory option.
Bridge does look suspiciously like the string goes through and not drop in like the Canadian ones.
Looking forward to trying one of these out at some point to see if I could live with one, the D-Bird didn’t work for me no matter how great it looked.

Partly the lack of access but also the way it hung on the strap (tilted forward a bit), as well designed as it is the bass is just an awkward shape. I always felt a bit like I was fighting the ergonomics of it.
The D-Roc and D-Bird look the business but my Combustion or ABZ are very comfortable basses to play.
I’ll revisit the 5 string D-Roc when I can actually get my hands on one.

that’s exactly how I felt about the Strandberg bass when I tried one out recently.
Wonderfully light, but I just couldn’t get it to hang comfortably for me so I was constantly fighting it.
Really wanted to line it, but had to return it.

Sort of Dingwall related...I'm thinking of replacing my current amp (Puma 900), to use with my Dingwalls! I'm leaning toward the Berg Forte or Forte HP. Good choice? pros/cons? I think there are a few Forte owners in this thread, and it would be great to hear from you.
