As to your question, I wish I had an answer for you but, alas, I'm in the same damn boat. I was checking out options for my wireless pack, and I got excited about a right angle possibility, until I remembered I have an NG-3. Depression.

I'm going to hit up a custom cable maker and see if it's possible to make a modified R/A plug to fit a recessed jack. I'll let you guys know if I hear anything.

I always liked Sheldon’s work and there are (2) boutique builders that I like outside of Lull.
Dingwall and Devon.
I like the fanned frets and that Sheldon prefers the smaller frets and I do as well.
It’s just this jack that I’m not digging. You breath hard on the NG2 and it screams...

I've always wondered why there aren't 120 degree plugs...

FWIW, I just opened my 6-month-old combustion 6 and there wasn't a lock nut taking up that much space in the thread of the jack, so it didn't look as if it could meaningfully be moved out. i might look at a longer jack, though (not sure if such exists)

Adding adapters kind of defeat the benefits of having the 90 degree plug, they also put stress on the jack.

Yes indeed, it is definitely a beautiful color!!! Here are a few other example shots.
The first photo and the last photo are the same exact instrument, so you can see what a big difference the lighting makes in how the color looks.

I finally got a shot of my new super. After this was done, Dingwall seems to have done a bunch of new basses in LPB for NAMM and others. This didn't qualify for a Dingwall beauty shot though

Sorry we didn't get a photo of your bass taken. Everyone who could have done the photo was down at NAMM this year when your bass was due to ship. Because there were other basses in the same shipment with customers waiting, the team back home didn't think it right to delay the shipment for two weeks.

Yes, the issue is balance mostly and a headstock re-design. It could be that I'm overly worried about balance problems and a simple prototype would confirm or deny if this is a problem that needs solving. I've got several projects ahead of any prototyping though so can't predict a timeline at this point.

I'm thinking about trying the Dingwall F# string set (for the five-string NG, if that matters). I'd rather not alter the stock nut on my NG, though, in case I ever want to switch back. I emailed Dingwall about whether they sell one but I'm not optimistic (I would imagine if they sold it they'd put it on their web site...but who knows maybe I'll get lucky). I'm sure some people have just thrown the F# string set on the normal nut and called it good, but has anyone gotten a separate nut for the F# set?

Pop off your factory nut, install one of these, and file it as needed:
[Invalid or Expired Link Removed]
Make sure the new nut is installed with just two tiny drops of Elmer's glue so it's easy to pop out when/if desired.
(Standard procedure for nut replacement.)

I have a NG2 since I’m wondering if there is an extended barrel or something that can be used, or something along those lines.

I sometimes use a patch cable I made to connect a battery-powered tuner to my NG2, and the right angle plug I used seems to just barely work with the NG2. This is the plug: [This invalid link has been removed]

I've never used it for more than briefly checking my tuning, though, so take this recommendation with a grain of salt. If you want I can check it more closely when I'm home.

Pre-filed or not, I would think any nut will need to be final fitted to the bass on which it gets installed. You are dealing with adjustments of a handful of thousandths of an inch that make the difference between high action, good action, and buzzing.
