Just swapped out the Tone Fusion pot in my Super Pj5 for a good, old fashioned tone control. So much more range of the tone rolloff now that I have a full pot rather than half of a pot to work with.

Would anyone have any use for the Tone Fusion control? I just desoldered it but I didn’t get a photo of the wiring—I’m sure another Dingwallist could provide a photo of how it’s supposed to be soldered in.

WOw. That is a really lovely colour for a Sklar. I like theone I picked up secondhand, but had it been new, I"d have ordered this orange or a blue.

I totally agree with you for orange. I'm in the same boat - secondhand Sklar. Saw that one and drooled on it (a lot), but couldn't justify the price difference just for color...

I think I've been lusting after this orange sklar on reverb for ages. The green also looks nice. Given some time, I might order a 3X sklar in this orange to sit next to my classic super fatty red one, but for now I'm in no position to complain about Dingwalls.

Oh, and my AB2 made it back from the Dingwall shop with the neck issue sorted. Very very happy with the Dingwall service.

If your movement is like the yellow arrow, the string tension and tone will change.

Making my hand move like the red arrow is difficult for me as I have a natural tendency (bad habit) of my hand actually moving in the opposite direction and drifting towards the bridge on a standard bass.

I have found this illustration useful and noticed the same thing with regard to hand position. By intentionally moving my plucking hand in the direction of the bridge, string to string timbre and focus is more consistent and sounds better on my SPJ5.

The custom order waiting game is a cruel mistress. I’m sitting at my desk, while working from home, and think to myself “it’s probably been about a year since I placed my order.” Did the math... eight months. Not even halfway to the projected 18 month turnaround time. Given the current climate, complaining about the wait time on a custom bass while still fully employed is probably not the most sensitive thing to do, but boy do I want that new bass! :smug:

It's in the states, it's cleared customs, but thanks to some computer glitch, it's still sitting in the FedEx hub in Memphis, and has been since last Wednesday or Thursday. It's still gotta go to California, before it comes back to Indiana. Memphis is, like, 6 hours away from me...:rollno::rage::rage::banghead:

This has taken, damn near, two full years...

I'm grateful that it got shipped out before everything got shut down, but this is maddening. No gigs? Doesn't matter...

One other approach is to sort of have a pipeline with several differnet basses in it.
