Should probably read the whole thread. Other Luthiers are chiming in, even "smaller" ones, about the shortage and how it is already impacting them.

This was a really interesting exercise in not 'building it in my mind' but literally pulling it out of the dreams I've been having. As it stands, we're working with an ebony board, maple neck, alder body. I did ask if it were possible to do 'chrome' position dots but alas it's not. My one other tweak was to ask if possible to do pickup coil switches as push/pulls.

The emerald ash borer is decidedly not a joke. It's been decimating tree populations particularly here in North America where tree resistance was low. Though I recently read an article that said it looks like the ash species here will eek out a win on this one if just barely due to there being enough trees that can resist to rebuild the population.

...So I was also thinking about this (as I plan my first visit to the grocery store in about 2.5 weeks tomorrow) this morning. Anyone who is still gainfully employed right now...are you saving a buttload of cash? I save about 50-60$ a week in gas without driving. I don't pay for any coffee at the little place up the street from work, I don't eat out with my wife, and in my band life (at something like 5-12 gigs a month) I'm not buying dinners or drinks at the bar or snacks for the tourvan or breakfast/lunch while out for the weekend. Even though the band was paying, most of that pay was soaked up by travel expenses. I no longer 'drop by Wegmans' and pick up a quick 60$ in food every few days for impulse foods for dinners, etc. I keep being surprised by the amount that's 'still in my checking'.

Though it'll be a ways down the road. I think that the wait times are up in the air right now...the shop is up and running but I believe that they have fewer people in shop at any given time and that's a recipe for some slow-downs. I told 'em it didn't phase me (remember, I ordered and got the Rastaburst at a time when the Dingwall wait was at an all time high)...but you can't keep production schedule on a skeleton crew like you can when you have a shop full of people. In my mind, I'd rather have a healthy happy Sheldon & crew & family than get an instrument a few days earlier.

Came from Saskatoon, used ( not that you could tell). Looks to be a maple neck with we get board. Only had to tweak the relief ( I keep my house at close to 50% humidity, which we both know you won’t get in SK) and plays like a dream.
I certainly am! I'm one of the millennial crowd that bailed on their apartment and have temporarily moved in with their parents, just to have some other humans around. I'm not buying food, booze, or gas, and I'm not spending money on much else.
I'm getting along well, but I'm really missing my life - and I'm missing my two Dingwalls back at the apartment
I’ve been lucky enough to stay working, we’ve been deemed essential. So, it’s like Groundhog Day.
I turned off the radio weeks ago, just listening to music on my hour each way commute. Down the Cokumbia River Gorge, with very little traffic, it’s pretty scenic.
The project is a high school remodel, kids and staff went home weeks ago, it’s a bubble. It’s become strangely normal.
My biggest whine is all the waterfront river access is closed, it’s tough to get out kiting. And I’m bored. Everyday seems the same. Even the woods are closed, which seems excessive.

Yeah, spending a lot less. One thing to keep in mind if you haven't found out already is these newfangled cars have a lot of battery drain, and undersized batteries. Hadn't started/driven the TLX for 2 weeks, and the battery was dead.
I've been fortunate to keep my job as it's considered a part of critical manufacturing for medical products. There's times I wish I could not work for a while but I'd rather be able to continue life as much as normal, make money and support my family. I'm actually glad I got out of gigging, life has been less stressful and I've been healthier. I got sick more often from working 40+ hours a week and gigging every weekend.
My fuel consumption is mostly the same, though I'm saving more money from all of us being thoughtful on grocery/necessity spending. I got worried that I bought two Dingwalls right before all of this started, I was getting ready to sell if necessary... Fortunately I've been able to keep both and dream of getting a D Roc

Same - essential worker here too - supplying grocery stores, banks, hospitals with the plastic safety shieldings/barriers - but that's slowing down now, as most are up to the COVID requirements. Also starting some temp building work for COVID testing outside of hospitals - they are trying to keep COVID OUT of the hospitals and into a specific area in the parking lots basically. Thankful for the work and the money coming in, not happy about the risks associated, but i'm being OCD clean though. Fingers Crossed. Traffic is super awesome as i cant break the habit of 6am leaving the house and instead of 45min commute - 25min now. Hope boat launches open up though for Walleye season - mid May. Kinda need to self isolate with them.

Good you can get out of the cities! I'm really glad I moved north of the cities now, I don't miss the Coon Rapids/Anoka area in light of all of this.
Ha! On the other side of the coin/hill of life, we have two "non-essential" adult sons living with us right now, eating vast amounts of food, running up the electricity bill, and not contributing a penny to expenses. No stimulus money, either (just over the limit, but at least I'm employed for now). Gots to sell something if there's going to be an ABII in my future. Maybe one of the boys....

I'm surprised they are up and running at all so that's good news, at least they can keep something going rather than having to shut down completely which is gonna be a huge hit for so many smaller companies.
My Super P/J order is sitting at about 16 months but with the current situation I was thinking I'd be lucky to have it by the end of the year.
