This is a p-bass, right? I can tell you this (average at best) bass tone would sound a lot better with the neck pickup on my Dingwall that's for sure![]()
Yeah, Fender precision. Recorded well before Sheldon came up with the Super P.

I’m gonna disagree and say middle, here is my combustion with a P-Tone in the middle position next to a standard P (quick picture so not measured it) but they look pretty close to the same spot if you go by where the pickup sits on the G.
I also think the P-Tone sounds better in the middle than at the neck in this bass, it used to be 3X but I got rid of the extra pickup.

I’m gonna do a fun experiment in a little bit.

that genius battery access cover
There's a very helpful dealer I've used on here named John (@xnewyorka ). He could definitely help you out on custom order stuff or questions.Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask this, but I figured you fans would know better than most. I've decided my next bass will be a Dingwall. I'm borderline obsessing over them, so don't see my mind changing about that. I'm also a lefty, and reviewing their website, it looks like the Combustion/NG is my only choice. Does anyone know of other models that are available for southpaws? What about custom orders? I love the look of the D-ROC, but haven't seen a lefty anywhere.

When did they start leaving the pickup shells open? They always potted them in with epoxy. I wonder why the change was made.
Pictures are useless for this purpose- so many conflicting angles, one bass closer to the lens of the camera, etc., etc., etc., especially since a fraction of an inch can make a significant difference....here is my combustion with a P-Tone in the middle position next to a standard P (quick picture so not measured it) but they look pretty close to the same spot if you go by where the pickup sits on the G.

unfortunately the only lefty options are the combustion(NG is part of it) line.
But, they are a great option!!
Yeah, I'm not sad about my options, just wondering if there were more. Now I have to save my pennies, and get in what I'm assuming is a very long line to get one. Basing that assumption off of the Reverb sellers that have instruments listed that they're not supposed to receive until November.

Will do. I’m gonna give it a few weeks but I’ll keep you posted@AB Nate let me know how the flats sound, i've been curious to slap a set of flats on my combustion, since i also have a p-tone on my bass.
As my shopping list is getting more serious I have a question. What is the neck like on the super PJ basses? In particular how does it compare in thickness or shoulder to a NG or Combustion series bass?
I've only owned 5 string Afterburners and 4 string Supers. The neck on both my supers is pretty close to an Ibanez Soundgear bass.As my shopping list is getting more serious I have a question.
