The order date on the invoice from my dealer is Aug 2018, that's when they put in the original order for a spot in the queue, I picked that spot up in Jan 2019.
The final specs should have been confirmed in Feb/March this year but then Covid hit so the full specs didn't get finalised until the end of May. So this is not exactly a normal build time, it's been affected by me asking for a couple of things that were not possible and then getting caught up in a 3 month delay as the store I ordered through was closed.

Even if it showed up tomorrow it's not like I have a bunch of shows to use it at ;)

Hey guys, has anyone successfully rewired a 3x 4-way switch to replace bridge only to middle only without affecting the other positions? Is it at all possible or do I have to go for a custom wired 6-way switch? I don't need 6 options and would rather not have to ship the bass so I'd rather mod a 4-way if possible.

You can search back through this thread - I think one person said it theoretically would work but I wasn't able to get it to work myself (could be my error definitely). I also emailrd the Dingwall tech and he said it wasn't possible.

I did the 6 way switch and am really happy - the middle is my favorite position of the 6. But yeah, although the mod is very reasonable and well done through Mo you have a couple hundred bucks of shipping and insurance to get it done.

Some info to add on both of those items:
1. On the screw terminal block on the 3x switch, you can swap the lead from the either the bridge or neck pickup with the lead from the middle pickup. (Takes 2 minutes, no soldering required.) That will give you the middle pickup solo in either position 1 or position 4 respectively. Obviously the middle two positions will also change as well. @husky123 did that easily reversible mod (he swapped neck and middle) in the NG2/3 conversion that I just got from him, and it works great.
2. Mo said he would be willing to wire up a 6-way switch and send it to me so I could install it myself. For those so inclined, this could eliminate the round trip shipping.

Correct. I don't understand why the same couldn't be done with the bridge, but if Dingwall said it can't be done, I would think they should know best.

EDIT: The same can be done with the bridge. I have updated post #36826 above to be more thorough, and to reflect the same info that @Sheldon D. added in post #36831.

Id be curious to hear what options you requested that were a no go having done this myself

Yeah I'm not sure either but this is copied from the email (for reference for the OP)

"The only way to get the middle pickup solo would be to switch the positions of the middle and neck connections to the rotary selector. You would then have:

position 1 - bridge solo
position 2 - bridge/neck series
position 3 - bridge/middle parallel
position 4 - middle solo

The other option would be to order a D-ROC rotary selector:

position 1 - bridge solo
position 2 - bridge/middle parallel
position 3 - middle solo
position 4 - all three (bridge/middle parallel in series with neck)"

My apologies. I was the one who answered that email. I mistook the question thinking you wanted to mod the circuit board. As mentioned above, you can switch the inputs to the rotary. You will need to de-solder the white wire from the bridge pickup where it's grouped with the shield wires, then solder the white from the middle pickup to that same group. After that, it's pretty simple. The inputs are labeled on the circuit board so it should be pretty straight forward. Maybe take a close up photo of the stock wiring first so you can always go back if something doesn't pan out.

So, yes, you could swap either the bridge and middle or the neck and middle on a 3x switch and that would give you the ability to solo the middle at the expense of soloing the pickup you swapped. It would also change the combination positions as well. You'd have to experiment to see if that's a plus or a minus for you.

So swapping bridge and middle on a 3x (requires soldering) would give you:
Middle
Bridge/Middle in series
Middle/Neck in parallel
Neck

Swapping the Middle and Neck (no soldering required) would give you:
Bridge
Bridge/Neck in series
Bridge/Middle in parallel
Middle

Wasn’t anything too off the wall, I wanted a specific metal flake/sparkle finish. Something close to the EB starry night but on a Super P, they could only do a small flake/candy type finish so I had to go in a different direction. Took me a while to talk myself out of an Xtop (maybe one day).

The whole idea came from the fact that I loved the finish on the aquamarine sparkle D-Bird so much I wanted the Super P to be just as blingy. I had planned to send my old super P to Marty bell to get a crazy finish on that but ended up having to sell it thanks to some very expensive house repairs.

Well, finally submitted one. Not perfectly happy with my timing, but with everything else going on, it is the best I could do given the time I gave myself. I have one like AND one dislike already. Whatever. I'm sure everyone else's metal crazed all over the fretboard stuff will win, but I had to try.

The starry night bongos are gorgeous.
Those aqua sparkles I never really thought I’d be a fan of but after seeing it in person I was blown away.
Either way, looking forward to seeing it when you do get it!

I tell ya, if I didn’t have kids, dogs, tool heavy career I’d be quite happy with a small, minimal maintenance place with a big bass vault. Blowing bucks on buildings is BS when there’s basses to buy!!
