Dingwall Owners Club

Welcome @TheOriginalName. I have two ABII's with chambering/cutout. The F scroll looks fragile, but I've had no issues, nor have i heard of any on TalkBass. You're going to want to treat it carefully and with the respect it deserves! They are wonderful instruments. Good luck with your search! Gratuitous bass pic attached!

Will be posting a NDB update here soon- bought the Ferrari Yellow ABI 5'er in the Classifieds, received yesterday, and just oh.my.God... Forgot how truly incredible these basses are, having been 13-14 years since my last one. This example is truly perfect, not a nick on it. Very desirous to get a DOG number as well!
Quick question, and I have this posted in the 'Strings' forum- do Payson strings downtune well? I love Kalium but am about fed up with their C.S. and inability to ship within a remotely quick turnaround, so looking for options... Need something for an ACGCF tuning- not sure if the Payson .130 set would do? Other suggestions with tapered XL strings would be welcomed!
Again, can't wait to spend more time on this thing- it just makes you want to sit down and PLAY.

Sounds like you might need a mixed set for that tuning, especially if you want it to feel even across the strings.
If Payson doesn't have what you're looking for then shoot Jason at fretnation a message, he has a bunch of options that will fit and can put together a set.

Second @Waltsdog on the recommendation to reach out to Fret Nation. They're my hookup for special string sets for down-tuning.

Just sent them a message, looking forward to hearing back soon as I'd like to find a new source for my needs.
I optimistically put in a small order with Kalium a while back, as they always were good to me in the past...but it has been a few weeks of radio silence now :rollno:

Safe to say I will never order from them again. What a disappointment!

You are going to have to get on them to ship it. I would just call and leave VMs.
Disclaimer, not trying to turn this into a bashfest, but, as a loyal customer from their onset even thru 6 weeks ago just wanted to state that yes I had the same issue. I bought a drop tuned 4 string set, plus an extra B that I normally do. Paid, put the order in, got the USPS tracking info. It sat as "Ready to ship, etc." for about 2 weeks. Finally emailed Skip, he said it was 'lost at the Post Office' which given corona, okay, maybe. Then about a week or two later, I get a call from him asking if I really wanted my string gauges as thus, and suggested a different B, which I agreed to.
Being a self-employed proprietor myself, I could read between those lines when I'm behind on a project I haven't even touched, as the strings never had gone out, weren't lost, and he just then (probably 3.5 weeks later) were getting mine out. They showed up a few days later, but still. My latest and probably last experience with them for some time.
Sad, as I love the strings and they work perfectly for what I need/ed. YMMV, etc. just my most recent encounter.

Does Dingwall plan to make any heavier gauges? Would love to try some!

Question by the way, was a reverse contrast dingwall ever made ?

As in, wenge neck and maple fingerboard ?
Or blacked out maple neck/heel/head and normal light maple fingerboard maybe ?
I suppose that would go well only combined with a dark body though.

There's an ABII with wenge neck and maple board in the Gallery on the website.

A few of us spotted one on the Netflix show Instant hotel haha. It's In Australia DINGWALL Z3 - 5 String - Just arrived and Available !! -
Not only is it an unusual wood combination, it is also a super rare switchblade model.

We are adding custom drop tuned sets this week. We’ll be offering singles too.
Our .145T .110 .080 .060 .050 would be perfect for your tuning, @spector_boogie

I know the feeling. Gorgeous, huh?

Oh, and my cousins in Wellenstein, Grass, and Holzem (Luxembourg) say hello.

Hey, I drove by Wellenstein more than a couple of times, a good friend of mine founded his company in Ellange :) Tell them I say hi too.

Yeah, the thing is, do I really need another 6 string .. as an AB2 .. hmm. Hmm. That's a serious question, which deserves a serious answer.
