WD music is the stuff.

They actually sent me 4 samples of their PG material so I could settle on what I wanted.

It's hard to see in the picture, but it really went well with the purple/blue-ish wood grain pattern through the white. I'd still have the bass if it wasn't so heavy. I ended up taking the neck off it and pairing it with a lighter bodied honeyburst one I still have (with a matte black pickguard).

I wrote WD, he can make it for me but he requires my tracing. Oh, this ought to be interesting with my shaky hands and ZERO artistic talents. I wonder why these pickup makers don't have the templates already. I looked up the NG2 model and it first came out in 2014 I think, that's 6 years ago for at least someone to go to a custom pick guard place and have one made, thus then the pick guard place would have the template..

This is probably his way of ensuring that you get the exact pickguard you want, not one that may or may not incorporate subtle design changes that have happened since 2014.

Trust me, I'm with you, shaky hands, too much caffeine, no artistic talent, etc.

I used a mechanical pencil with 0.5 mm fine point (you can buy a pack of these at wally world cheap) and carefully traced my old PG, including every screw hole, truss rod cut out, pickup route etc. I had the added stress of extrapolating exactly where the third pickup was going, so I placed one of the pickups on my paper where I thought it should go and then cut it out and placed it on the bass.

Long story short, it worked out perfectly! Take your time, it's not rocket surgery.

Dingwall, like many manufacturers, make very subtle changes and tweaks to their designs over time, so I doubt it's worth it to any third party to keep templates. If you do a very careful tracing, you shouldn't have to do any final tweaking or sanding at all. Mine dropped right in, every screw-hole lined up perfectly.

PS. If you're really bored, I have a thread where I did a bunch of mods (including new PG) to my 2015 NG2 over here:

I read your conversion like 3 weeks ago, Yellow is my favorite color! You had the older more rectangle pickups and you had to do the routing work.

Not sure what you mean when you mention PC mappable gear - the questions in that thread about getting certain sounds or emulating certain pedals are looking for tips on new ways to approach creating patches. You can still make the exact same changes in terms of creating and editing patches directly on the device, as well as using HX Edit. No code writing involved :)

I just mean making presets on your own with the PC and the GUI for the device your programming, you know, mapping signals through processing blocks. I did check out that Line-6 link you list and filtered by the bass guitar and that really cut down the results to 6 pages, versus whatever mucho amount of pages there is for guitar. Makes me want to just buy a cheap guitar just to hear some of the custom guitar patches people create, but I really just need to STOP buying anything for a while..yeah, ok..I get my stomp on Monday. This box looks like it has everything and anything you could want, just dream it and program it. There are even patches on that site that mimic the Darkglass type distorted chugga chugga sounds, should I ever actually be interested in using that sound.

They have set screws. Knobs by dcline designs, sadly don't believe he's making them anymore...last few emails have gone unanswered and no recent activity on his page.
