This is most likely applied over a silver pearl or fine metallic base if you wanted it really dark with the brown showing only in bright sunlight you could apply it over a black pearl

I had a silly but sincere idea myself. Have my Whalepond Blue Combustion professionally photographed and made into a wall poster. Id hang it on the adjacent wall of where my 13,000 pound ELEPHANT poster I have now is, above my work at home work desk in my music room. Everyone has a favorite animal, and Elephants are mine. Everyone has a favorite bass, and we all know what that is.

I just received a couple sets of Payson nickel rounds for the Super P and AB. Payson helped me with custom sets to pursue my Super light string quest. These are in the .085-.032 or .035 for E-G standard tuning.

I’ve tried most of the Payson offerings in nickel, and I really liked the reduced core and medium lights. The new Payson flats are nice on the AB, and will get a tryout on the Dbird soon.

I am working through various sets of used strings experimenting with the light side. A set of Payson nickels from my AB-1 six string was unearthed in my pile of used, soaked sets. The A-C are now on my AB-1 four string, tuned E-G, and I’m excited about how it’s working.

This reminded me that I’ve always liked Payson strings and prompted me to badger Payson with special requests. Thanks Payson!

I had expressed interest in Payson strings for the medium scales long ago, and I’m happy to see they are now available.

I’m looking forward to trying these out.

Well, I've decided it's time to rub together some pennies so I can get myself into owning some property in early 2021! With that, I'll be letting go of one of my aquamarine sparkle D-Bird standards. I'll give y'all 24-48 hour notice to contact me in the DMs if you're interested.

After a day or to, this classifieds thread will switch to "For Sale", with more pictures and a list price of $1000: For Trade - Dingwall 5/6 for Dingwall D-Bird Standard (4-String, Aquamarine Sparkle)

The bird I'm letting go came to me 2nd hand from an owner who was a bit of a roughneck with tools. I think he tried to pull the nut out of the neck with a pair of pliers, from the bass side, which took out a fair amount of material...I had a local expert luthier widen out the nut slot and craft a bone nut that fills out the much bigger slot. In the process of that repair the luthier took the neck off, which happened to pull off a chunk of the paint by the neck pocket. The chunk of the finish was glued down, but it's a little rough. All pictured below. Note that this is a BEAD-Bird - the nut is cut for BEAD size strings!

It's still a beautiful bird that plays great. I've got the original Dingwall soft case, and I'll throw in a Couch strap with strap locks as well.

It is manufactured by the same company as the newer cases which are engineered quite well.
I’m curious to see how the construction will withstand the test of time but I’m sure then will be fine.

The face of the fretboard and some of the headstock were also scratched pretty seriously. The seller on reverb made me whole for the cost of repairs from a skilled luthier, so I won’t gripe TOO much, but they claimed they didn’t ship the instrument that way

I should have asked for more pictures before buying. A cautionary tale about reverb and not having many good pictures before buying. It turned out reasonably well for me, but still.
