Dingwall Owners Club

I got word right from the horse’s mouth that my Super J will be done soon. Very exciting!

I’m brainstorming on a color to have my incoming Sklar refinished (I just don’t care for blue), and as I was chugging down coffee at work today I admired how a strong espresso looks nearly black until light shines through it. So now I’m imagining a paint job that looks nearly black, but with some light shows off that it’s actually brown. Gonna see if any sort of finish like that exists in the automotive realm!

It’s probably been discussed but I’m
not keeping up. What’s offered in medium scale?

@bluescat has a nickel steel medium scale set available as of not too long ago..... I believe. I’m due for stock and will be placing this order next time I see Payson throw up a discount..... or sooner. :hyper:

I’ve been meaning to get ahold of you amigo. Heads up for an incoming text!

I just received a couple sets of Payson nickel rounds for the Super P and AB. Payson helped me with custom sets to pursue my Super light string quest. These are in the .085-.032 or .035 for E-G standard tuning.

I’ve tried most of the Payson offerings in nickel, and I really liked the reduced core and medium lights. The new Payson flats are nice on the AB, and will get a tryout on the Dbird soon.

I am working through various sets of used strings experimenting with the light side. A set of Payson nickels from my AB-1 six string was unearthed in my pile of used, soaked sets. The A-C are now on my AB-1 four string, tuned E-G, and I’m excited about how it’s working.

This reminded me that I’ve always liked Payson strings and prompted me to badger Payson with special requests. Thanks Payson!

I had expressed interest in Payson strings for the medium scales long ago, and I’m happy to see they are now available.

I’m looking forward to trying these out.

You’re probably right. We have this coffee extract at the bakery that is exactly what I’m imagining. Super dark but when you see it in certain light is when you can see how it’s really deeply brown. I’ve also actually dreamt about the bass being gloss black, so that’s also an option, but it has to be a really nice gloss black, something with some depth(?) in other words, not your bog standard MIM Fender gloss black that looks cheap.

I have tried the 45-105 set and have a 40-100 set around, too.

The 45-105 was a bit stiffer than the dingwall Nickel, but sounded pretty nice.

We have a lighter set available now too. I need to get it up on the site. Have any special requests? Send us an email. If you want that set above, write in the checkout notes you want the lighter gauge set.We are fully stocked (x400+ .170T’s x400+ .145T’s) set’s in Medium and XL...
