Well still have 10 to 12 weeks for my D-roc Standard 5 string, but decided to infill paint the Dingwall rubber knobs to make the "D's" stand out.

Hey All,
Proud new owner of this lovely Mopar Purple NG3 5 string....Decided to take a gamble on a Dingwall not ever having tried one before and wow am I ever glad I did!
congrats and welcome aboard.
it is pretty crazy being a Canadian company that we are lucky to see, say 5 , Dingwalls hanging on long and Mcquade walls accross the country but for some reason it’s ok that they have a hanging inventory of 500 fenders.
I have yet to see a Dingwall at a Long & McQuade in Quebec. I suppose they could order one for you, but you would be on the hook for a deposit. In general, there are already few instruments over $2000, and the majority of those are American Fenders.
Hey All,
Proud new owner of this lovely Mopar Purple NG3 5 string. It's my first forray into the Dingwall world, and I've got to say I've never held a bass that's played better than this. I've mostly mained Rickenbacker 4 strings for most of my bass playing career but was feeling a bit held back in the music I was playing lately and decided to branch out into a 5 string. Decided to take a gamble on a Dingwall not ever having tried one before and wow am I ever glad I did! I feel like it's really opened up my playing to a lot of new possibilities. The neck on this thing is a dream to play.
Very Stoked to be part of this club now!
Here's some porn of it

Wow! Thank you for letting me in on your secret for the BEAUTIFUL but yet simple photo technique, and I don't mean the Dingwall..lol.. the amber lighting with the dark wood floor background! Well, OK, a magnificent, eye catching picture picture is created from a work of art, NICE BASS! I had said in an earlier post here that I wanted a professional looking photo of my Whalepools Blue Combustion so I could turn it into a wall poster for my music room/office. I might try some things myself first. Like you, I discovered, after the fact of getting my 1st Dingwall like 3.5 months ago, that I was being 'held back' in a way when regularly playing my Jackson to my metal music. I said the same exact thing as you regarding the fan frets as well, so I know exactly what you write about.
Yeah same thing further east. 90% of the store is Fender or Gibson or their derivatives. I've never actually bought an instrument from a Long & Mcquade actually since their selection around here is so poor. I just get amps and pedals and things like that from them.
Yeah, don't get me wrong. The L&M near me has ten times as many basses as anything else nearby, but most of it is the standard stuff. They do have an F-Bass though. Only $6000!
Hey Mattov,
Love your NG3. The bass in my avatar is the same as yours (although mine has the DBird pickup switching and I'm guessing yours is probably the standard 3x). They are so well built and versatile. I wouldn't hesitate to use the bass in any setting.
Enjoy!

I actually have an ABI or order right now that will have the standard 3x switch. I'm still a long ways out but likely come mid 2022, I'll have a Dingwall with the DBird Switch/DGTC and a Dingwall with the 3x Switch/Glockenklang setup.
Bones
That would be Mo:Thanks! It is indeed a regular 3x switch. I do think I'll look into modding the switch to offer some more tonal options. BM in parallel and the DBird/Droc BMN setting are really intriguing to me. I thumbed through this thread a bit before I joined, and I think I saw somewhere someone does a 6 way selector switch which can offer more pickup combination options.
Happy Birthyear Page!

Yeah things are especially desolate out here in the Maritime Provinces. If you're looking for anything more than Fender, Ibanez, Gibson, Musicman, or any other of the common music store staples you're pretty much SOL and just have to order things in blindly. Kinda sucks.
Hi JR,
I currently own a NG3 with the DB Swtich and DGTC.
The ABI will be
5 string with Flamed Maple Top
Green to Purple Burst
Maple Neck and Fingerboard with Purple Speedo Inlays
3x Pickups with Series/Parallel switches for each
Glockenklang preamp
I ordered it on Black Friday 2020. I'm estimating summer of 2022 for delivery.

love that bass. Now that I’ve gotten a taste of the older SJ(p)s it’s hard not to get a bit of GAS.
This one is going home today...

PS: many thanks to its owner for letting me dabble with it.
Fortunately my local main branch does bring in a few, mostly Chinese, every year amongst some other goodies but not like it used to be. Back before I knew what’s good I remember there being a couple MTDs on the wall(I think) and definitely some beauty Warwick’s. A couple Smiths perhaps. That was before L and M was even a Dingwall dealer but the selection of instruments used to be drool worthy for sure. Now...... meh, I do look forward to used gear that pops up.
looking forward to seeing this one! I kind of have a Gr/urple thing.
It looks like my SJ5's slightly younger brother!
I guess I can't blame most music stores for not stocking more expensive and "off-brand" instruments. They are doing what they have to do to survive. They must sell starter kits and entry level instruments 20 to 1 compared to more expensive ones. That also opens the door for more specialized shops to sell more niche gear. Although if you don't live near one, good luck on trying the stuff out!
