How about a 32.5” - 37” 7-string? As a 7-string player I would jump on it. If that’s been done, I apologize as I have not seen it.

Not really my vibe, but I think this is probably a long shot since there's limited 7-string interest and demand and there's probably a serious 5h!t-ton of bottom up design work to make this happen.

On the other hand, we know there's a track record for Dingwall-designed bodies with their attributes and also the shorter scale 32-35's.

I appreciate the more traditional look of the Super series, because for some gigs the look of the instrument sometimes does matter.
However, I’d totally rock a medium scale AB/NG/Z series bass.

And I'm certainly not dissing the Supers. I'm sitting here with one in my lap right now. I just think about the evolved Dingwall 'flagship' basses and that there's not one of those represented in the shorter scale.

I think there's guys who aren't Jazz/Precision traditionalists that would love what the long-scales offer in a bunch of design ways, but with the shorter scale.

Stuff like:
-Compound radius fretboard
-Thin Compound asymmetric neck carve (Z-thickness)
-2 or 3 pickup options layout options
-Dingwall compact 2+3 headstock (either AB style or angled Z style is fine)

And a body that aligns with the modern Dingwall body types.

Agreed, I love my G&Ls, but I'd love a smaller scale Dingwall with the long scale modern vibe. I actually hope that if a headless dingwall ever becomes a reality, a shorter scale will be in the making. I used to have a 35" 5 string carbon neck headless Bogart bass and its size was fantastic for travel (no longer than a strat guitar). I never should have sold that one. Anyway a "modern features" Dingwall with a small footprint would be fantastic.

After a good long many seconds of pondering and consideration, I think that Sheldon should introduce a 32-35" scale Dingwall with a closer-to-trademark Dingwall body shape.

I love the shape at the 'rear end' of the long-scales because they balance very nicely when I have 'em propped up around the house, so it could be a Z-ish, AB-ish or Voodoo-ish vibe but I think it would also give the more forward style Dingwall trademark aesthetics along with the tone-cues of the 'super' series instruments.

Feel free to discuss, or not.

I like the SJ and SP, but I like the other body styles too!

I wonder if they could make the headstock on the D-Roc bigger if it were 32-35? I'd be into a D-Roc 5 with a reverse Super P/J headtock in a medium scale. 19mm spacing would be fine too.

Here I was thinking the headstock on the D-Roc looked just fine...I always thought the Gibson headstocks they take their inspiration from were way too big and boat paddle-ish for my liking.

I've heard rumors that a 7 string Dingwall will never happen because your finger would hit the nut when fretting the first fret of your B string. Don't know how true this is but it does seem like it would cause some problems. I'm definitely getting a 6 string for my next one no doubt.

Here I was thinking the headstock on the D-Roc looked just fine...I always thought the Gibson headstocks they take their inspiration from were way too big and boat paddle-ish for my liking.

On the 4s its still a bit small for my liking especially with the new design. The gibson ones are ridiculous, I'll give ya that.
I love the Super headstock and remember seeing a reverse super headstock on one of the early concepts, the D-Rock is already pretty close to the same shape as that reverse headstock so it would be a cool nod to the fenderbird.

Do they not make them in 4? Now that you mention it, I am not sure I have ever seen one. I just assumed 4, 5 and 6-strings were available on the Afterburners, Combustions, NG's, Z's and Prima's. Essentially, just the SP's and SJ's not available in 6-string.

They used to offer a Z in 4 string but they pulled the option due to lack of demand.
