A build is a build is a build. Custom is custom. Doesn't matter if you start with a tree or with parts.

Funny story (OK, maybe just to me).
I have a Dingwall Z1 5 string and a Z2 6 string.
And then two 4 strings (Spector NS2a, Fender American Jazz).
And while I struggle with muting the extra strings and getting lost (I did mention that I suck at actually playing bass, right?), I still end up always grabbing one of the Dingwalls when I'm not specifically thinking "I can't do this unless I have a 4 string... so yeah... a Dingwall 4 string... hmmm... or maybe a nice US made Spector?
But I digress.
Let's get that production Super P announced, I'll pre-order one and then I can put my GAS to rest :)

The Z I have in queue (and should be done "soon" ish!) will, in all seriousness, be my last Canadian Dingwall for quite some time. There will really not be a need for another custom when you have

2x AB1 5

I could see some imports landing in there again. Kind of regret selling my 10th Anniversary NG3. A DRoc 5 would be "neat"... but an import Super would be very hard to pass on. We'll see. With time being split between bass and drums now, it'll be difficult to convince myself I need another, especially when I have so much that's capable beyond my ability now.

I have a really nice Super-P but if a production Super-P 5 happened I would be on board. A production Super-J would also be excellent and make me think twice though I much favor things P.

...though a long scale headless, which has been brought up across the past year or so would be interesting...and I've been sort of keeping a casual eye on the production D-Roc 5's.

At production-model retail, it would be hard to resist. I still have an itch for more fretless stuff, a defretted/fretless production Super and/or I've always been interested in a shop-built fretless just to see how it compares to what I already have.

ive been having a hankering for a 4 string stingray or P For the odd noodling. Something cheap as it would be such a casual instrument.


The long scale headless!!!! Well, that’s my biggest fear of a way to lose “the bet”

that Ibanez EHB was a cool instrument but honestly the fretboard radius was a big turn off when I played it….it’s too bad because the neck itself was quite nice. I didn’t love the tight spacing either.
I know Dingwall will simply do better.
Fingers crossed it doesn’t resemble the current style of these headless basses like the EHB and the strandbergs.
Dangerous territory for my wallet indeed

Yeah, I'm not in anyway suggesting that it is on the table or in the cards. I haven't heard a single rumbling about a fretless production bass, but it's something I'd certainly like to see. :D Maybe an upgrade/option or even limited run?

Yeah, I feel like it would be just engineered more thoroughly and effectively; thus be a more successful instrument in the sense that it would be more fully realized/actualized. Again, I have know knowledge of how things are headed, but definitely on the radar for me.

I may have heard something about a new pick up model but don’t know the actuality of it.

just sitting patiently waiting over here.
