So happy to hear!! Not China. I really hope this factory works out.
Having worked quite a bit with companies in both places, I can say with great confidence that they certainly are different, but that neither is automatically "better". Nor is US made or German made automatically better than Chinese made or Korean made.
Having said all that - yeah, I hope they found a great factory and are able to provide more production basses and competitive prices.

A lot of the dislike of China I don't understand... it often feels very xenophobia-issh to me. I do understand, to an extent, having pride in your own country, but, just because I was born inside one box of lines, doessn't mean my box of lines is inherently better than anyone else.

Since most instruments are made on CNCs (and have been for ages), the lines are blurred even more, and more comes down to the individual company's acceptance and decisions on materials, tolerances, quality check and assurance, and how they handle the inevitable issues that crop up.

In my country they are very heavily investing in lobbying (legally and illegally by the way), and their priority is pushing for a surveillance society here similar to what they have at home.
So no thank you, you're not getting my money and I'm not getting your products, including face recognition and social credit systems.
Yes I know, that also includes some nice basses, oh well I'm sorry I'll have to get the canadian models instead, life is so hard ..

I'm perfectly happy with my Chinese Dingwalls.

Without touching the TB 'third rail' of politics (to me this is more about economics than politics), I think while there's much that could be improved with China...I don't blame them for taking away US production. Gutting the middle class along with wage stagnation for the middle and lower classes for half a century doomed the average US citizen to not being able to afford our own products.

We're eagerly waiting :)

haha. Sounds like you’ll be waiting 3 years now. … lol.

It’s not about emotions/feelings and it’s definitely not directed at common citizens.
vvvv a portion of the valid reasoning below. vvvv

we can add active attempts at genocide and many other reasons we cannot discuss here.
No feelings. Just brutal facts. Not to mention global dependence. Long term end game is if China continues to win. Everyone loses.

Huh. Dingwall took the facebook post down about the Korean DRoc.

Huh. I did notice that the description was a bit cryptic and not very fan-fare-ish...though it was up for 20 minutes (I checked back a few times before sharing). Alas, I can't remove my post here now that it's been commented/shared.

I can’t help but take the bait and I apologize for that.
The reason why posts about national prejudices and assessments are so challenging is that they are all based on the author's point of view. Being born in one country, now living in a second, and having children that I adopted from a third I kid myself that I am trying to see things a bit more openly, but having immersed myself through a different hobby into the culture of a fourth country (and as part of that having spent a lot of time talking to people who grew up there about their point of view when it comes to the actions of my two home countries), and currently having people from eight different countries work for me and talking to them about their points of view... I have learned that all of this is far more nuanced, and that none of the obvious answers are ever correct.

So, yes, I posted "Korean, Eh?" above - which was intended to say "oh, look, that's new".

I try really hard not to get involved in these threads because they lead nowhere. Whether it's the constant trash talking of German companies (e.g. in the Spector forum), whether it's the constant trash talking of China, Korea, Indonesia, Mexico..., whether it's the hatred for the US, or France, or whatever else pops up here.

Well way to go. Look what you started….

I'm all for outsourcing to cheaper countries to bring unit cost down. I was in automotive manufacturing for years and saw first hand, every day you needed supply options for components.

Where I draw the line is intellectual and spiritual property. We must never let the communists get their hands on the "MothMan".......
