In my case, out of the 2 custom builds I've had done in my life, I was disappointed exactly 2 times and either returned the bass or turned it around on the market immediately for a loss. I'm going more for a "known quantity" as much as I can control this time around. Especially given the price point (>9k Euros/14k CAD) and the wait time (18+ months).

Sad that FedEx seems to continue getting these shipments. They bork the last mile, forcing you to drive across the city to their warehouse. Love it when they report “customer not available” and I’m standing at the door waiting…

I've been redirecting to my local FedEx (2 miles away) and I go get it. FedEx has almost always been cheaper than UPS for me, but they sure have gotten lazy lately.

They're up against it given the price and the fact that it's been poorly stripped and stained. As a curiosity it's cool but not really going to be a collectable in a meaningful sense for most Dingwall fan/collectors.

Well dang, that is cool to see. I live in Saskatoon and I have seen, maybe, two Dingwall guitars. I don't think they were around for very long.

On a side note, I do know of one former Dingwall employee who is now building guitars. I don't think they are fanned fret though. He definitely doesn't do basses... I asked.

I’d say the Zero is the most mysterious Dingwall creation in my mind

Stoked that I contacted Morten over at Bass Buddha in Denmark, only a 3 hour drive from me here in Hamburg. He was able to give me a slot he already had reserved! Cheers to him! Looks like the wait for the Z3x-6 has just been shortened to 9-11 months! Sometimes the cosmos come together. lol

The crappy part is that DW doesn't have any Buckeye Burl x-tops at the moment, and that's really what's floating my boat. Hopefully, something good will pop up in the next few months.

Plenty of time for something to come in. My X-Top was just reserved this morning after putting in my order at the end of last year.

I spent my morning coffee Bass time with Jacob Umansky’s metal slap technique class. One of Scott’s bass lessons offerings.

I’ve been a member at Scott’s since the early days. They have built quite a program. The site has gotten super organized and there’s plenty of meat to get into.

The Z six string was sounding amazing. Jacob does a nice job with instruction.

I’m hoping he gets into his signal chain later in the show.

Jacob is 100% a Darkglass guy. Watch any of his other videos and you'll see/hear it. You could achieve most of his tone with a Darkglass X7 and impeccable technique.

That looks like the original oil finish. It was nicer looking when new. I remember it had a lot of depth and even some chatoyance. IIRC, the bass player that played with this customer was the one who got me thinking of designing a 5-string bass.

Those honey or cherry bursts are some of my favorites. This might be the reference for when I eventually order a fretless!
