5 minutes to remove the little spring and you've got a high quality non locking jack. Totally reversible and even if you lose the small spring they're readily available in stores and online.

Curious as to why you think the NG/Combustion jack kinda sucks. I'd love to replace mine with the Neutrik one but that won't work.

Thank you! The wait was worth it. The tone across the fretboard is so even on all strings and FD3N pickups are very hot.
TB member @Bassheart365 replaced the frets on his Afterburner with larger ones to mimic the sound and feel of a jazz bass. I think he swapped the pickups too.
I guess I should clarify, it's not the jack itself, but the way they recessed it. Damn near impossible to use a right angle cable...

5 strung NG3 I got in part of a trade towards my Muckelroy. I tend to prefer either 4 strings or 6. I may or may not immediately resell it.
I also have about 4-6 months before a 6 string ABZ I ordered through Fretnation is finished.

Well you’re certainly not wrong lol. I had to replace my cable that goes to my wireless receiver to a straight angle. I was all about that 90 degree before. At least with regular instrument cables I can just insert the 90 degree side into whatever piece of gear and use the straight side to go into the combustion for rehearsals.
Tried to find Johnfoxbass in members but to no success. Do I have the spelling correct? My gut is burning for a NG2...

John Fox isn't on TalkBass anymore because of reasons. Contact him through his website ASAP. I had a delightful time ordering my pink AB1-6 through him, which was coincidentally the first custom Dingwall he ever got to place the order for.
The thing is the recessed bit. Not a game changer or a big deal. Just a thought, since most of my thoughts are far from original I wondered if anyone else here had the same thought and if they did anything about it. I know about the Neutrik because my btb846sc has one. Its a nice idea that you may step on your cable and the not get unplugged. It happened once or twice, I was grateful. I dont remember ever stepping on a cable and getting unplugged before, but thats what it is. Now, when I stepped on the cable the third and fourth time the entire got ripped out of the bass, still attached to the cable. I removed the spring from the jack and I havent stepped on the cable since. Its a sign.
Prospective NG-3 owner here. I have already placed the order and will be getting it this week, however just wondering if anyone here has used the NG-3 in a gospel setting. All the videos I see on YouTube are metal only pretty much.
Is the NG-3 considered a P bass, or a J bass, or is it pretty hybrid and pretty much just depends on your pickup setup?

When I praise with my NG-2, I always solo the neck (middle on NG-3) pickup - it's a thing of beauty and power.

I am also interested particularly in worship gospel. How have you got it setup for that? In worship gospel, it’s important to have smoothness and warmness, and I know the NG-3 is known for its power and aggressiveness, but it seemed like some tweaking, maybe a custom pickup here or there could make it just as enjoyable, smooth and velvety for worship.
Worship is my favourite and I would love to hear people’s experiences with the NG-3 in this particular setting.
Solo the middle pickup, roll back the bass control a bit, and roll with it. Sounds great with Dingwall or Payson nickel rounds.
Just one issue…the NG3 has the 3x switch, and there is no middle solo position on that. You need a six-way or D-Roc switch for that.
HOWEVER, I would just about guarantee that you’ll find one or more selections on the 3x switch that you will love, and you can further tweak it with the DG preamp.
