Are you like a wizard or something?
I'm thinking of that Dingwall almost every day, probably should have gotten it instead of my 4 and 5 string. I love my basses but the dingwall would have been more practical than having 2 separate basses, I just like keeping things simple...

Instead I got these two down there.
Love them, but yeah... That Dwall got snagged...

I haven't had to make the final decision yet, but I will probably do a .154 for the low string at first. I can compare the natural drop-tune to pitch-shifting and decide which I like more. Always have the option of having the nut filed to fit thicker strings if I feel that's the thing to do.

Pitch shifting has come a long way, especially for bass. I use an Axe Fx 2XL sometimes to pitch down to F# and it's pretty good for a lot of playing. Fast tremolo picking not so much, but overall it tracks well. Andrew Baena had a good video on this topic and I was surprised how good his pitched down sound was.

I did not care for La Bella flats on my ABZ back in the day. They were really stiff and it just didn’t fit the tone I was going for. If they did the Low Tension Flexible Flats in a long enough length, I’d consider trying those out.

I just listed my AB1, if anyone is interested in taking it off my hands before I come to my senses.

I’ve been debating it for a while. I was in a better financial place when I ordered it, and it’s just a bass. I can always get another one in the future. My Super P5 stays with me til I die, though.
