That's on the complete opposite end of the product line, I would love to come across some of the vintage gear everyone loves so much.

Lower your pickups. Keep track of how many turns you give each screw, so if you don't like the tone when you lower them you can bring them back to the same height they were at when you started.I watched the video and get which height would be good for getting a more focused tone and less wide. Another vote for lowering pickups or try FDVs instead. I like them better, they are more open and more clear to me.

This right here is a good method. Very easy to go back.
Some brands need them to be closer to the strings. Not the case here. I have found incredibly better results with the FD-3N's once I lowered to the measurements I listed in the post above (Sheldon's recommended height). Same goes for the SF2's in my AB2.
Start with them down that low, if that doesn't work you can always bring them back up. At least that way you have more "data" to decide if you need new pickups.
EDIT - on the NG3 with the pickguard you tend to lose a little space if you use the front pup as an anchor for your thumb with the pickups down this low. You may or may not encounter that with the D-Roc. I know a friend who can't stand the low pickups on his NG3 because he hits hard needs a taller thumb anchor.

I was working on the Dbird setup last weekend. Lowering the pickups made a huge difference in evenness across the strings and opened up the palette of sounds. Bridge pup is slightly higher and I really like the bridge solo.
Everything else needed to go lower. Super hot pickups, and they can be too much if they are too high.

Crummy, but obligatory photo. It’s woodshed only for this bad boy. Not because of the fanned frets, but that extra string. Maybe you can teach an old dog new tricks, but it’ll take some time.

If you want to shorten the transition/adaptation, don't even pick up your four-string for a while.
Well I bought a set of Nordstrand Big Single 4 pups for my Droc. I tried messing with the height using the video and it just seemed to suppress the volume of the pups. But they still sounded the same. So I watched quite a few videos on those pups them went to the page and checked out how they rate the tone of the pups. If these aren’t good I can return them. I’ll ask if they can do a set of NP4A pups in that pickup configuration.
Yup they make the body of certain pups to fit Dingwall basses
I was thinking of custom ordering Nordstrands for my NG-3 too. If it doesn’t sell then I might just do that!
I’ve read they will put them in Dingwall format as a special orderLove the AlNico V NP-4a.

I ordered a set of Kalium strings the other day.
Then I searched on TalkBass and saw a bunch of negative posts about their service.
Fortunately, it's been good. Skip emailed me yesterday. I ordered the extra long scale, but for them that means 40". So he just wanted to verify I was getting the right strings.
He corrected the order and they're on the way.
