Round core, single outer wrap of nickel. Focus on fundamental. Not a lot of overtones. These are unusual strings, the E feels a bit rough because of the large wrap wire. Rough, but smooth at the same time. Smooth like nickel, not grabby like stainless.

Yes those strings are VERY unusual! Since there is only a single wrap, there is no tapering at the tuner end. The wrap just stops, then nothing but core!

The pickups are hard-wired in series. Playing them in series with each other brings the Super J tone for me. Fatter than your average jazz and so refined and defined. Meets my personal definition of a 'tone monster'.

Every time I see this one, I go "wow".

Ooh. That neck. I’ve got nearly the same bass but with the maple neck. I’ve considered flipping mine to get something with a bit better upper register access and possibly 5 strings. But, I do love the electronics in the Bird.

I have spoken with Helge in the past. He's the man for all things Glockenklang.

I watched this back when it first came out. As Much as I do like my Spectors and want a FF Spector (not the dimension though) and think this is a great option for a ms bass…. It’s not the winner. Dingwall still reigns champ IMO in this class.
