I would have killed for an Aria Pro II ZZB Deluxe! Instead, I had to settle for an Aria "Pro" II TSB Standard (black, not even sunburst). Ugh.
Mine was blue/green burst with gold hardware. The sheer thought that these photos turn 30 years old *this year* is blowing my mind. I had owned the Aria about 5 years at this point in the pics.
17 year old me was a crappy dresser. Yikes..
If I still drank, I would need a stiff one right now, lol.

For me, the biggest ergonomic advantage the NG has over the D Roc is how compact it feels. The reach to the first fret is noticeably shorter; in fact, it feels basically like a regular long scale (34”) bass, where the D Roc takes a bit more stretch.
It's funny how that works when both NG and DBird 4's are the same scale lengths but feel that different. It's more noticeable (to me) than going from an NG 4 to Combustion 5.

I may end up snagging an ng3 6er to hold me over for a while, but if I can swap one of these 2 for a comparable 6 I’ll be happy as it will end up my main bass.
That being said I can’t really pick which of these 2 is my favorite so I’ll let whoever has what I want dictate which one gets traded. Both basses are incredible.

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone! The NG is coming to the audition and I already put a feeler out for a pink perloid guard in case I get the gig.
My wife would wholly disagree,but I'm always down for another bass. The D-Roc totally slipped my mind. I would have to do some work on the guts to get it to sound like my NG does now. The D-Roc reminds me of my first *real* bass - an early 80s Aria Pro II ZZB deluxe, very pointy and very flashy. If I got a D-Roc it would have to be the aqua sparkle model. Really wish I could have scored an NG in that color.
The Aria Pro II ZZB deluxe was also my first bass! I loved that thing so much. Wish I had never traded it away. Mine was the black and white zebra striped finish. Can’t get much more 80s.
Yeah, not quite 80s, but anyone who went to any food court in the 90s will be familiar with it.
