Dingwall Owners Club

Handful of glamor shots from last weekends gig with my Queensryche “cover”/tribute MindRÿche.
Bass player from our opener had a Alpha/Omega 900 and DG410….Soooooo naturally we had to combine our rigs for the night. (Mine is the Microtubes 900 with 210 and 212). Was glorious sounding.

I love both basses and it isn’t a “I don’t like something about one of these” decisions, it’s more so that I don’t want to pull the 5-6k out of savings right now to buy what I want because I’m about to write a check for a new car, so it’s gotta be one in one out. I honestly can’t pick which bass I prefer between the 2, which is why I made the ad open to trading either one for a 6. I play the ab2 the most outside of band rehearsal, it’s got a clear burpy tone that is just incredible.

Is there anything you didn't like about your AB2? It seems like you haven't had it too long... just curious...

Specifically, I prefer the ergonomics of the NG to the D Roc, and having the option of the preamp is also an added benefit. Plus, it just looks great.
I ended up selling my D-Roc St 5er because I realized that I’m spoiled with having 24 frets with easy access on my ABZ5. D-Roc was a great player and felt comfortable unless you’re going to the upper register. I missed 24 frets for sure so now I’m considering NG3 as a backup to my ABZ but honestly I can’t imagine any situation where I need anything else but my ABZ5, such a great and versatile bass!

@CJC6 do you still have an NG6 for sale?
Sorta, I took the NG3 listing down because I wanted to try a .148 and .160 for F tuning, at the same time, on each of my Dingwall sixers. I like both. Then, I picked up a couple pickguards so I wasn’t in a rush because they look sweet! I just listed it again on verb if you want to read the description.
(I’ll take it down tomorrow.) I would sell it, PM me, and we can create a listing here. I have a Dingwall build due in September and was going to sell it then. The Mike pope pre I like a lot.

@Nakoatron

I really love the mandolin frets. My Super PJ 4 has it as well. I was hoping to find/some day build an Afterburner with mandolin frets, but now only the Sklars can get them. I've typically preferred AB necks over Z/Sklar, though now that I've left my Sklar out just for quick random plays I find I'm getting used to it.

I think if I ever did a build, it would be one that is even harder to find in the wild - a fretless. I have one, but I love the new look with only edge lines.

Hey, just wondering does the Z and Skylar has the same neck profile (the thinner flatter ones) compared to the AB?

Thanks in advance!

hell….you’re right near me. I’m in Royal Oak. Wish I had the extra coin right now because I want a 6. Posted my NG3 five for trade specifically for a 6.
