Dingwall Owners Club

I just saw something on FB that Dingwall is going to stop offering NG-2s because most buyers want the third pickup? Anybody else heard this? I guess it's not a huge deal because I know my NG-2 is already routed for the third pickup, but I like it as is and haven't been tempted to get the conversion kit.

Just wondering if anyone with a first few generations of NG2 (with square pickups) would be willing to send me a tracing/scan of their pickguard? Better yet - if anyone has an extra or spare lying around, I'd gladly buy that also...Thanks!

Yeah I also saw the NG2s labeled as discontinued models from a few retailers

Mo's shop?

Since the Dingwall shop is completely covered up making basses, they have had zero to miniscule time to do any special requests or customizations.

"Mo" and his shop sort of stepped in the gap and many Dingwall owners (myself included) send their basses off to him for any custom work.

No affiliation, just a satisfied customer.

I never had the urge to add a pickup to my NG-2 either. I loved the sound of the neck pickup so much, that was the only way I played it.

Visually I like both better after so that's good. Any commentary on the sound changes ?
I think I do too…

it’s a bit tough to comment on the sound changes as the dark one got the P tone swap and the B pick up wired in series along with some New Payson Nickels.

The maple one when from some dead dingwall steels to some pretty ok dingwall nickels.

I think on the bursted body I feel the sound opened up some with the maple neck on it. Less tight and focussed. Some of that has got to be the strings too.
The thing I really noticed is the voice of the FDVs in comparison to the older FD3 4Ls. Love them both. The FD3s are cleaner and more solid in the low end. They sound great ala Jazz.

The FDVs sound like an open angry throat. Solid but more vocal. I think for the aggressive stuff I do this really actually was a nice side x side for me to identify my interest in flavours.

Oh man...

Such a shame that it's not the maple one which has square shells though .. :D I'm still waiting for a credible specwall here !

Yeah. I know what kinds of colors I’d want, but my wallet hopes for colors that aren’t as appealing to me. At least in the near term.

I wonder if it’ll be an all-new color, or if it will be the return of a color that used to be available. We’re any of the past colors (orange, hot pink, purple, etc) specified as limited, while they were a thing? I know my Ferrari Green NG3 was always touted as being only a limited number, but I don’t know if those others were the same.

I think the pink was limited.

I’m guessing all new colour but they’ve hit all the primaries all ready. Lol. Maybe a shade? Charcoal?

That would be cool, in an understated way. I think the solid shade I’d most like to see (well, I’ll leave out a green that matches my, at this point, lost D-Bird :() would be a nice turquoise. I’d definitely jump at some of the past colors, like the Mopar Purple or that Orange.

Hmmm, they’ve got gold, maybe they’ll do silver now?

I mean, they kinda did silver already... maybe *shell pink* instead of hot pink?

they did do that DG edition silver. I think the last new colour was that forest green. Maybe it’ll be like a metallic crimson???
