I’ve had a bad experience with all of them at one point in time. In my neck I the UPS is a better option over fed ex.

so many factors which is why I also prefer on air express type shipping on valuable items. Less stops and hands on package.

Also, a tip, when shipping international, the receiver often gets hit with a brokerage fee upon delivery on a ground parcel. This total can easily offset the addition cost of air freight which gets it to you sooner/safer for a non substantial increased price by the time that fee factors in.

I'm lucky, my UPS guy used to go to church with me, and still has my cell phone number. He always calls when it's a guitar shaped object and asks if anyone is home, if not, he asks if my daughter (next door) can open the garage if it's raining and have her shut it again.

But if the package didn't get TO him, I would be in trouble.

After a bit of exploratory surgery I realized that I am in business with internal routing allowing for moving the pickup back (or perhaps even adding a 3rd way in the future) with pre-drilled pilot holes for locating. I managed to trace the standard Combustion pickguard if anyone happens to be looking for that - and may get out the ol' exacto knife later this week if plan A doesn't pan out. (Still looking for that tracing of an NG2 pickguard to save someone scrolling time )

5string Dingwall strung E-C sounds legendary for chord melodies, tapping, and well... everything Dingwall's do.

I've been going thru the gallery of canadian dwalls the other day together with my partner and we both agreed that really eye popping and extravagant colours make dwalls super unique and cool. We will die on that hill.

If your dwall is natural etc looking, just whyyy!?

I should take a close up of the top. It would be a crime to put paint or a more of a finish on this competition grade crotch walnut.
I don’t disagree that Dingwall does lively, colorful and artistic finishes at the highest level. I love that too and I have a Purple bass in the build queue!

l prefer solid colours… ideally bright. Why is harder to say… could be a phase. But i also think it is an aesthetics thing. A complex woods bass looks great upclose… but is lost live in many cases. Where as a high impact solid colour will always stand out. It is only a slave to lighting tone.

plus, solid colours make the eye focus on the overall body shape. Complex woods often blurr or distract from the overall shape. The white/blue burst shared is a bit of a best of both worlds visually.

The ABZ and Zs etc, basically anything other than the super P and J just look plain better with a crazy colour scheme.
There is just something about it, absolutely top grade look with eye popping colour is where its at!

Anyone else do this? I tune one of my NG3's down to A standard and the .055 D from the Dingwall Nickel set just wasnt cutting it. I spoke with Jason at FN and ended up using a .065 XL nickel from D'addario. I'm having much better results - needed to adjust the nut ever so slightly but the D feels way more even in tone and feel to me. Slightly stiffer, but a much more familiar feel. D'addario XL's were my go-to for rounds prior to getting my Dingwalls, the string to string feel is now more "normal" for me.

Getting really curious about the Payson nickel rounds.. I love their groundwounds I'm using on the AB2. What is their string life compared to a set of the Dingwall nickels? I can wear out a set of nickels in like 2-3 gigs (including pre gig rehearsal) so that's my "metric" for measurement, lol.

I always use steels for that reason. They always seem to last a little longer, IMO. I like the extra zing and it’s not hard to tame it if I want to. I have Dingwalls on my AB and Paysons on my D-bird. I like both equally.

Yeah - it is a long term goal. I think it would be fun to spec one just for me.
