yeah, a bit of butchering but that’s probably not the best idea… and I’d probably end up pulling it back off in the end…

Dingwall and Spector.
I would have been here ages ago with that ABZ or whatever it was, but I did an oopsie and did not get it back then
+1 for Dingwall and Spector, used to have a Spector Legend 5 that was pretty sweet for the money. Also had the holoflash finish, inspired me to see what a holoflash Dingwall looks like.
Same here, my go-to basses were initially Warwick's in the 90's, then Spector's in the 00's ( a Euro 4 and a Euro 435 ).
Wish I'd tried a Dingwall several years ago though.
TB folks….NG3 Jack took a crap on me during a show. Worked fine at sound check, fine in between sets when retuning, went to start the second set and I got nothin’. That feeling when you think something went sideways on your pedal board was quickly resolved when I switched basses. Suggestions?
Pics were for my luthier, wanted to see if he had time to fix on the fly (playing 2-3 nights a week regularly).
I will say this: I am lucky enough to have Dingwalls, Warwick, Steinberger originals, Sadowsky and Tobias as well as a few Fenders. I am finding myself liking the Dingwalls and Fenders more, almost “if I had to pick” I’d grab my 2007 Fender Jazz Deluxe 24, one of the Fender TF fretless, the NG3 5 string and ABII 4. The Fenders are not stock: Hipshots, Babicz bridges, and Stonewall custom-wrapped pickups for a bigger, heavier, and more flexible choice of tunes. You gotta try them. Scott is the “Alex from Barefaced” in the pickup space.

Guessing you had a wire disengage/break from the jack. Unscrew the jack and slide it out to see if there is 3 wires attached.
I have a friend who's jack went south on his NG. It started chewing through batteries - all the wiring looked fine, nothing touching or shorting. I threw a new jack in for him and he's had no issues since december. Like @AB Nate said with yours, a wire could have just come loose or maybe the jack shifted and one of the lugs is shorting against the shielding paint.
I checked today. I unscrewed the Jack connection, also took a look in the control cavity. All wires are connected. Nothing out of the ordinary. I slightly repositioned a few things so the Jack wires are separate and not resting on any pots, etc. She fired right up with no issues.
Not 100% confident with that fix though. Gonna have Scott at Stonewall install a Switchcraft once I have a break in the schedule.
If anyone in Dingwall land is interested in 3 SF2's for 6 string, I have a set.

I now have a new Fretless ABII bass.
Dingwall segmented line fretless basses take fretless playing to a new level of nuance and are becoming quite popular among those who love sliding up and down the neck.
Which iconic fretless player would you like to hear playing this Dingwall ABII?
Specs: ABII,five-string, Glockenklang electronics, Walnut Body, Quilted Maple Top, Turquoise Greenburst finish, Wenge neck, fretless lined Macassar fingerboard, high c tuning, green luminlay side dots, black hardware. 8.75lbs.
I only received it over the weekend (and unfortunately have only been able to spend about an hour playing it) so I can’t give a full review of it.
But it plays very well and the fanned frets don’t make it harder to play… For all of you that play Multi scale instruments, you know that the fanned frets do not take much adjustment. This is just the same with Fretless.
On the other hand it will take some work, like all Fretless instruments, to keep my pitching correct.
I am pretty used to this on my current Fretless Basses so know big deal.
I know I am going to be spending many hours with this one.
I want to thank Sheldon Dingwall for continuing to create these fantastic instruments.
Also… I have to acknowledge ABNate (
his persuasions made me buy my 1st Dingwall and I have enjoyed it a lot ever since) and the rest of you who contribute to this thread… for keeping the D.A.S. up.

+1. By far my favorite setting on the NG-2. With a tad of drive and played with a pick, it roars like the mother of all p-basses.
Just played a theatre show with middle solo the entire show, almost feel like its a crime to use active mode in that setting outside of high roll off/a touch of bass boost but that’s just me. It sounds so good.
The words I want to use to describe how awesome that bass is will get me kicked off this site. congrats and wowzers

Today was the day I finally got to debut my new NG3 on the channel and what could be a better way to break in a new Dingwall than running through a Meshuggah song!
I used the third position with the preamp on and with a slight boost on the bass and high mids. For some reason this position is really mid heavy and I feel like it needs an extra boost to reach its true potential. Am I the only one though who doesn't really love the B&M position? That sounds super nasal to my tastes.
