Dingwall Owners Club

I just saw this on IG. Might be a bit much for some, but I'm in awe.

Any dingwallians who’s band uses in ears?
If so what kind of band set up do you guys do?

I pretty much run a personal one.

I have it set up as stereo with the FOH mix on one side and my bass on the other. It lets me adjust my own volume in context with the full mix.

I was planning on building an IEM rack set up for a band, but we parted ways.

Just unpacked my new Dingwall Combustion 4 Bass that arrived today. But there are not battieries in the bass and I can't find any in the gigbag or shipping carton either.

Is it normal that Dingwall basses are delivered without batteries?

There was talk about this a while back. I think they're shipped without on purpose. I can't remember if the reason was cross border issues or the possibility of the battery shifting around, coming loose and causing damage. But, it was not a question of being cheap; there was a reason.

Yes. There is a TSA concern and I believe it’s just easier for dingwall to ship sans 9v batteries. They started this a year or 2 ago is my understanding.

At home is easy enough thru the interface and such in my set up but new project is “more dynamic” then previous ones with lots of tempo changes and such. We would look to run a click track via the IEMs is my main consideration. That and of course no matter how bad a stage sound is you can still have a good mix in your ear.

You think you've got a problem...

My passive ABZ was probably way more expensive, and it didn't even come with a battery clip!

No single ethernet cable, and dante/avb/whatever .. ? :)
Our phones connect to the monitor mixer over wifi via a router that lives in the equipment rack. There was talk of expanding our own FOH system for larger gigs and our soundguy was going to use a Dante network for part of it but I didn’t hear enough of the conversation to understand how he was going to do it. AVB is dying a rapid death and I don’t anticipate seeing it for much longer.

Then again, my passive ABZ has more output than any active bass I've ever played!*

*-I have never played an active Dingwall.
I don't recall what, if any, differences there were in output between my SP5 and the active Dingwalls I've owned. I did tend to play them all in passive, but I don't recall having to adjust any of the input levels on my pedalboard, so the output must have been similar.

The common reason for manufactors to deliver without batteries is to prevent old leaking batteries inside the bass or its package. The temperaturs in countries differ and some instruments might stay a long time in an online-store warehouse.

But the seller should have known and ship batteries as a free service with this basses of this price range.
