Years ago, I was up to six basses. It was too many. Having four nearly perfect (nothing on earth is) Dingwalls satisfies my need for variety. Yeah, I know myself. ;) I don't 'do' flats and like fairly fresh strings - another reason for me not to own any more. I've used them for the last two string changes (I do all four at about the same time) and I'm still impressed with how long the Paysons are pleasing my ears. :cool:

I have my Combustion and a backup PBass that I really love, that's enough for me...for now, lol. I know myself well enough that if Dingwall ever does release a production Super series, I would be too tempted to resist.

I started the Scotts Bass lessons Jazz Accelerator this week to improve my approach to harmony and bass line creation and the Combustion has once again blown me away with it's versatility. I was able to get a really nice jazz tone with minimal trial and error. I normally play that bass in my dad-rock cover band and get a huge variety of tones for various songs. The combo of the Dingwall and my Markbass amp are really all I need for everything I play.

The Dingwall and I in action this past weekend....

I learned that song from your tabs. I will probably stick to .170 dingwall nickels cause i am in canada and i think they sound great.

i am sure you compared all new, and i am sure you know this, but for others wondering, the key to ultra lows sounding good is fresh strings. So i will go with what i can get easy.

I was actually pretty surprised how good my low f# sounded even without effects boosting harmonics. Bonus fun is playing the F# at the 12th fret and still getting a massive sound.

lucky! Dingwall strings is certainly seems more accessible if you're in Canada. Glad the tabs helps too!

Buddy of mine let me borrow his green NG2 for a bit, interesting comparing two basically identical basses. The green one is noticeably heavier which I wasn’t expecting. My bass has Nordstrand FD3s and it certainly sounds less sterile to my ear, mine in active set flat almost sounds like his in passive if that makes sense.

I don’t have access to both pickups in series on mine currently so it was nice to hear how my pedals and amp reacted to the output boost/overall series tone. Excited to get that setting back.

Just bought a beautiful mint Afterburner ii! I liked the D-roc standard 5 I had, it was no doubt the most glorious B string id ever heard and the balance was amazing. But I let it go cause I didn't gel with it as much as id hoped, with its pickup selection options and passive only config.

So yea, this will go one of three ways:
* I really like the AB2 and sell my Spector Euro to recoup some funds
* I REALLY like it and sell both my Euro and BBNE2 because It'll do anything I need it too (probably unlikely as the BBNE2 is a monster of a bass)
* I decide Its a nice bass but not really for me just like the Droc and someone here in the TB classifieds will have a chance at a real beauty of a Dingwall. ;)
