As mentioned, the most accurate best way to confirm is to pop the strings off and flip the pick ups over. Even from factory a previous owner could have changed them. It’s a 5 min job to check.
FDVs are possible but highly unlikely. FD3s are where my money is at too.

ok so if I lift the pups up it’ll say which pups they are, oh ok cool. I should be getting a fresh set of strings this week. I’ll be sure to check :hyper:

Just curious - is the sound difference between the NG3 and the D-Roc just due to the pickup wiring and combinations? Or is there something intrinsic about the instrument itself?

I would say the later, the pickups are the same but in slightly different locations on the D-roc they are all closer to the neck. Body wood and neck construction is quite different too, ymmv on whether you think that makes much of a difference

What @Waltsdog said, the pickup placement is slightly different with the pickups on the NG3 being around 1cm closer to the bridge on the treble side, slightly less on the bass side. I've had my D-Roc modified with a pickup switch that lets me use a Bridge & Neck position similar to the NG3 from the factory, but the tone is wildly different. The D-Roc is this perfect "Jazz Bass but just better" tone, but the NG3 has much more high mids and less bass. Also I found out that having an active EQ on the bass itself is too much possible tweaking for me.

Why not? If I had the money lying around and hadn't just gotten an ABZ 5 like a couple of months ago I'd be all over that. Unless there's a problem with it that's a freakin' bargain.
